I once got 29 mpg on a trip to NC. Only time I ever checked it. Just installed 3:73 gears so when I get the speedo calibrated I'll check again. I just went 240 miles tonight and still have 3/4 of a tank left but I can't really go by that because the speedo is off by at least 5 mph, and we all know the gauges in these cars are not quite right so 3/4 of a tank may actually only be 1/2 a tank.

Hey guys I was looking at a 94 z28 and was wondering what kind of mileage it got, maybe you guys can shoot me a figure. It is bone stock internally, has k&n intake, headers-hookers I think, gutted cat and catback. It's an a4 with a 2800 yank converter and 3.73 rear gear. What kind of mileage would I get provided I kept my foot out of it? Would 18-20 be achieveable?
Thanks,
Mack

I get around 11 or 12 in the city but on a trip this weekend, I averaged a little over 20 on the highway. I have an a4 with 3.73s, 3200 stall, heads/cam, plus boltons.

97 T/A A4 and one very enthusiastic driver
CAI, MSD6A, Electric H2O, Flowmaster muffler, stock 3:23 rear, 17 x 9.5 with 275's, HPPIII, synthetics throughout and other misc. (plugs, wires, 160* stat, etc.) Avg 22 city Avg 29 Freeway. 31 mpg best (200 mile trip on I-5). Averaged 24 mpg taking the same trip with a day of drag racing thrown in. Cool.
Add in a Moser 12 bolt w/3:42's, 285's on the wheels, and a 2500 stall TC and I now average 19 mpg mixed driving and 24-27 mpg freeway depending on how much I let the cruise control run the go pedal. I bitch about it, but it looks good compared to what some others have posted...

My wife and I drove the formula up to NE Wyoming this past July. I got 28 mpg 4 times!!!
I couldn't believe it!! My little 4 banger S10 gets 23 mpg where the formula gets 22.5 average. What is wrong with this picture
That is why I am trying to sale my S10 to buy a 2002 Z28
