Hmm.. I know of a few people pushing a lot of power thru the LT1 block. I dont know if that exact combo will do it... but maybe some of them can take a guess.

Madman? Chris? (I dont know if they come in here..might want to post in the Forced Induction Section.)

Buddy from around here built a 385, blue printed, all roller, custom grinded cam-not sure of the specs-, air flow research heads, he was going for 600 hp but on the dyno it only came out at 520 or so. 700 hp is alot, could probably do it with a supercharger? How much horsepower are the nascar 350's pushing?

I think that's def possible. Depends on boost and other things...mostly the cam specs and head flow numbers. If the heads flow real well and the cam is ground with the supercharger in mind and you run 15+ psi 700 might be possible. It should be noted that this kind of power through an automatic with a loose converter and a 12 bolt or 9 in is kind of unrealistic due to drag. Through an m6 tho.....hmm maybe. If it doesnt make it spray a 50 shot and intercool it or aftercool it and it should make some good power.

Stock PCM wont be a problem, but who cares what it dynos? Dyno numbers in a stalled auto dont mean ****. Through a T-tim, vortec after cooler, AFR heads, AS&M, CC305s and a six speed, Dave Lewis LT1 pulled some thing like 749rwhp. Same car with LTs and a shot of gas then made some thing in the 900s at the wheels with the same six speed. If your friends just looking for dyno numbers, swap to a six speed and leave the stock 10 bolt in, car will dyno great. No point in making 700rwhp if you cant hook it. Answer your question, I;m sure its possible with a ton of boost and even a small shot on top of it, but have fun building with that 700R4 breaking. Stock PCM is going tp need a ton of tunning/

Jordan it's Duncan, haven't talked to you in awhile. You need to come back and help work on my car, I made a post about that 410 stroker I was going to run and someone told me it wouldn't have enough wall clearance to run alot of spray. what do you think?

30thz28, the walls will be fine, its the pistons that will be the weakest point...

its not hard at all. with the auto though youll need lock up in order to dyno it correctly. but at the track youll want a three speed with a brake. or build a strong manual. the rearend will have ot be changed. so give and take, but your not asking for much honestly. not sure on the psi of a D1sc, but youll need upper teens if not 20s to build that power. a stand alone fuel system such as DFI or FAST will be better, but the stock PCM can do it.

I think its possible with a solid roller camshaft and more than 12 pds of boost for sure....

I don't think you will need a shot of anything, 12-15 psi's should be perfectly adequate, just remember to get some good pistons and a good tune to get it to run, a tune on the stock pcm might be pushing it, but I am sure it could be done.

As said before, all that really matters is that 1/4 mile not what some numbers say on a computer

I know dyno #'s dot matter but thats just to give an idea of the power we are looking for, it will be through a th400 and a 12-bolt

One of the local LT1-Edit tuners told me that it might be possible to do it though edit but it will be hard as it doesnt have boost refrence, he said he can try and tune it but would want to be liable if anything happend

He also metioned something about a sds or sbs or system that retails for about 1000 that would work, for the $ it sounds like a piggy back, anyone heard about this before?

Thanks

Have you thought about accel gen 7, it controls the lockup, has a "boost help" feature and is reasonably prices as a sequential setup for about $1450!! I love mine!

There is a local guy here running CNC stage 3 LT1 castings, cc305, ATI D1 18psi, Fast, auto and he runs 650rwhp with all that boost. We dont know the size of the custom cam you speak of so its hard to say. Bret bauer spec'd my cam for my blown 383 and on his engine simulation software, his custom cam made 40hp more then the off the shelf cam i was going to get. i will see when I finish the project if my dyno #'s match Bret's. I think the ported factory heads will be a lmiting factor. It will be tough to get 700rwhp with those heads...but it may be possible. tell your buddy to get AFR's. I am shooting for 650rwhp with my S Trimmed 383 making 14-15psi, AFR 210's, custom cam, 6 speed, stock ecu...
