Default CompR Lifter Adjustment??

My buddy has a 96 t/a, just did a cam change. We've read about adjustments on the Comp R lifters. What is everyone running who has these: 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. What will minimize valvetrain noise and still be good for performance? Competition Cams recommends 1/4 turn off of 0 and we feel it will be a little too noisy, what does everyone think who has these?

I have found it best for many to adjust the rockers while the motor is running. Loosen till loud clicking then tighten till clicking stopp's. THEN go 1/8th to a 1/4 depending on how you feel.

I personally have found the best way to make a LT1 quiet is to install Isky adjustable giude plates and center the rockers on the valves. LT1s have a slightly different valve spacing then standard SBC heads and like this setup to run the rocker best.

Good luck!

I collapsed a CompR couple weeks ago, according to Comp Tech's 1/4 load added to the 0 lash was excessive and I should not have gone more than a 1/16th of a turn past 0 lash. Whatever, it's only $14.00 for a new lifter but wish I'd have known 1/16th was the setting. I've always used 1/4 turn on the Comp 875 or CompR lifters and noise has not been an issue, especially with the amount of lift I'm running, over .600. I'd recommend what Comp said 1/16th just to be safe, but if you do a search on camaroz28.com you'll find a majority like myself have been using 1/4 turn.

Good luck.
