Mid 12 all motor LT1??
#2
Is this an auto or a six speed? Mid 12s isnt hard with a full bolt on LT1, though people will tell you that you need a cam to run mid 12s with an LT1, those people are idiots. If the cars an auto get a converter and a set of 3.73s, should put you in the mid 12s easy if your already at a 12.86. Was the car on skinnies up front? If not do that, take weight off, take the front sway bar off and get it hooking better. A set of gears should help a little bit, give us some more info about the car. A good hooking, light bolt on LT1 can hit mid 12s easy.

12.73 @ 108 with a 75 shot, i run mearly a 14.6 without the boost, doesnt sound right but whatever. I have mickey thompson et street radials, I hook very well, it is an auto. How much is a good stall and what number can I see from that?? Maybe put my car into mid 12's motor, and 11's with juice??

Converter you should loose about .5 off your time, get skinnies as well, they help. 14.6 is real slow for a stock LT1 let alone one with headers. You could be atleast in the mid 13s with the mods you have now.

Must be nice , up here at high altitudes stock Lt1's run 14.5 - 14.7 at 95-96 mph
Altitude 3600ft
Density Altitude 5500ft
Im trying for mid 12's all bolt on's but not here, i'll have to travel to dallas for lower alt.
Current time 13.3 at 104mph 1.960ft

I'm an idiot I guess.
I'm sure it can be done if you do just about every other trick, like a super loose converter and some serious weight reduction etc, but I have not seen someone cannibalize their LT1 F-car to that point.
My '94 ran a best of 13.22 with "nearly full" bolt ons, but I did not have any weight reduction (except for front sway bar removal) and I did not get a converter until I put a cam in it. A 'verter may have put me into the 12.9's, but I consider that still a healthy distance from 12.5x

Check out my sig..and on Nov 11th, I am renting Atco and shooting for the 6spd near full weight record of 12.48@110 with totally stock internals..I should be able to beat it and if not come real close.

bolt ons will get you deep into the 12s. try an elc. water pump, i picked up a hair over 1mph with my csi. also 1.6 rrs are good for a tenth or so.
a few weeks ago i ran a 12.54@112.16 w/1.84 60. once i get the rearend built im sure i can get that time down with some slicks and skinnies.

Look at Sar2Ks LT1, it ran 11s with bolt ons, not whored out at all. My LT1, converter, cat back, cold air only on 17 inch ZR1s with street tires (Kuhmos) hit 8.58 in the 1/8. The front sway bar was in as well, car still has the stock cat, all stock suspension including stock 11 year old shocks. I got a couple buddies here in Houston that have hit 13.2s with converter, cat back and cold air only LT1s, no headers. Just those mods with basic weight reduction, skinnies and DRs. I have a 3200 in my LT1 but I dont consider that "big" because its still real streetable. I think with a tune, some suspension, skinnies, drs and headers I could hit 12s.

I am sure it can be done. On our 94 Z28 with the following mods we ran 13.0's and 8.3-4's in Ok weather. 60's were in the mid 1.8's
Holley cold air
Flowmaster muffler
STOCK catback with NO cutout
Edelbrock shorty headers.
2800 Vigilante converter
rebuilt trans
1.6 RR and LT4 knock module
NO WEIGHT REDUCTION
The car had 120k on it and ran great!!!!!!!!

I would definatly suggest a big stall and slicks/skinnies. with that combo and the mods i listed before you should be a low 12 easy. i have a buddy that used to have a 96 LT1 and he ran a 12.7 with slicks/skinnies a 3500 stall, full exhaust and a K&N. the 3500 shouldn't be too bad street wise either, what gears are you running? if done right the 3500 should be very very streetable.

Unless your car is a drag car only!!
Check it out, most people wana hit 12's with their car appearing normal (all the seats and stuff inside the car) so... Like majority of people said, you dont need a cam, although it is a cheaper than buying all the bolt-ons possible to make ur car hit 12's. So if i were u i would get either a beefy cam for like $600-$800 w/ a tune. YOUR SET!!, but if u dont wanna put the bolt-ons on...
go w/ a full exhaust, ported TB, MAF, CAI (smooth bellows), Pulles, and a short shift (maybe), and have a strong clucth..If there is a few other like INTAKE MAN ans so on.... ADD em to ur list!!!
