I have rolled this idea around my head for a few days, and haven't found a reason not to do it. Is there anything I need to consider? Something I haven't thought of?
I would buy the Formula, it sounds like you could get a good deal. Plus you know the car.

I am with some of the others saying that the LT1s look better. Performance wise, straight out of the box they are not as quick as their LS1 counterparts, but they can get the job done. Go for the Formula, those are wicked awesome.

So you agree with

"Intelligence is not your strongest trait."

Never had anyone admit they weren't intelligent.

With sentences like that, I guess you would be lying if you did not agree with my assessment of your intellect.

Please sell your LT1. LT1's are cool cars that should be reserved to an actual enthusiast.

Let me go back into the past and look at what I responded to.

Yes. That obviously is a prime example of the comments this forum needs to be productive. You called fellow GM fans that have already had your type of car biased and morons and you spell out a lie about how you will "smoke this fool and other LS1ers". My old LT1 had minor mods, I wonder if it could take my basically stock LS1 . You have displayed animosity towards LS1 owners for not a single reason except for the fact that you wish you had one. If you have a bolt-on LT1, you will never be able to beat a mod for mod LS1. That is a fact.

Please stop posing at LS1tech.com, newbie.

edit: I really am quite curious as to why you hate LS1's so much. Please answer that.

You should both confine your argument to PM's and stop wasting board space. What's that you don't want to? Of course you don't because you are both having a pissing contest for all to see. What fun would it be if you couldn't insult someone in front of 300 people? C'mon and grow up or mature or just don't post when you are pissed. And nope i didn't want to PM you cuz i want everyone to see my kick-*** neutral response 10 seconds of fame

I am more amused at this poster than angry; as can be seen with my tone and lack of sexual preference insults.

LT1burnout... Calm it down and keep things mature. We like to consider ourselves mature enough to take part in discussion here without the freshman-in-high-school insults. This is your first warning.

Guys- lay off him. He's already made enough of a fool of himself.

Let's get this thread back to where it was, and try not to turn it into an LT1 vs LS1 thread. Both are good motors and have their benefits and drawbacks.

I don't think you really care about bolt-on LS1's like mine

You should make a sticky which has LS1 vs LT1 drawbacks for both.

Yeah you should post a sticky about it and just delete all of these LT1 vs LS1 posts. They are just asking for trouble.

Well heres my input. I was going to buy an LT1 for the aspect of it being much cheaper. But I read about how they have poorer flowing heads from the factory, and their ignition is crap. I liked the fact of coilpacks and the good flowing heads of an LS1. I like the new design. Now if I was going to make a boosted motor, id go LT1 all the way. They have stronger blocks, they sound better, and they are the legendary chevy 350. I wanted to do bolt ons and a cam. and the LS1 would take me further. As I can get to 400 rwhp with just a cam and boltons in the LS1. I would need to upgrade the heads in the Lt1. I dont hate LT1s, i love them, just not my cake. Look and see what you want to do with your car and make your decision there... Boosted LT1's are nasty.

Heres just something to put the mod for mod thing to rest. I raced my buddies 6 spd formy, it has longtubes, x pipe dumped. Ported lt1 heads, intake/airfoil shifter, 12bolt with a 373 gear, some subframes and a 150 shot. We raced, i beat him by 4 cars from 0 - 120. He didnt use the nitrous. I have longtubes, y hooker catback, Lid flter as my mods. LT1s are no joke. But LS1's have the tech aspect going for them. Lt1 is old school muscle design, and its great. Ls1s are the new SBC respect em both. Both have advantages.

I may have an LS1, but I still do want an automatic LT1 car someday, so not ALL of us are bias. Go for the LT1, they are fun cars, and if driven properly can be pretty quick. One of my friends has an almost stock '94 LT1 Camaro (all it has is a Borla catback) and he can run high 13s all day, on almost bald 4 year old street tires. High 13s is enough to stay side by side, or even beat, an inexperienced driver in an LS1

Either way you go, the LT1 and the LS1 F-Body cars are a great choice. I would get one that you can get a good deal on, regardless of it being LT1 or LS1. However, when comparing my LS1 to an LT1, it seems that it is eaiser to work under my hood than an LT1. But maybe that's just me
