Default Maybe an LT1 is in my future

I planned on buying an LS1 car. But my Dad is selling his 95 Formula M6 Hardtop. It has a different computer (maybe LT1 edit), 4.10s, LS1 brakes, firehawk wheels, and a few other goodies. It has about 70k on it. And Dad will give his son a good deal.

I have rolled this idea around my head for a few days, and haven't found a reason not to do it. Is there anything I need to consider? Something I haven't thought of?

if it saves you enough money to buy **** that will compensate for an LS1, then go for it. However, take heed that the guy that posted before me DOES have an LT1.... a little biased. If you are going for speed... if you can beat an LS1 for cheaper than an LS1... simple. If you are going for looks, screw the LT1.

not really a biased opinion. its just one of them deals that may be worth his time if the price is right. besides. if i was biased to the lt1 why would i want to swap in a 427 cube ls1 motor into my car lol. its goin to happen

its complete morons like this that makes the scene take sides and b "biased" in the first place. the LS1 motor is only 30-50 horses more than the LT1, with just a few minor bolt-ons you'll smoke this fool and other LS1ers.

anyways, the point of buying a car isnt all about smoking fools or who looks newer.. it sounds like a great deal and i love the firehawk rims!!

Looks like you couldn't afford an LS1 and have a little jelousy towards them. A couple minor bolt-ons will not take an LS1;especially on trap speed. I have minor mods on my LS1, and if I did that to an LT1, I do not think I could beat a stock LS1, let alone one with a Lid+Exhaust. Anyway....

I have owned both; they are both great. ex-SS-ve is correct, clean LT1's are few and far between. What are your plans for either car?

If your not a complete tool bag depending on the boards for all your information like a lot of people do on the message boards and actually race, you can make either motor fast. LT1 vs LS1 is bull **** and the only people concerned with it have bolt on cars. I have been around fast 4th gen for a loooooooooong time, you can make an LT1 run if your not an idiot. 90% of the people on the internet dont have the money to put either car in to the 9s any way. So far as building a quick street car goes, you can make an LT1 just as quick. I have many friends with 8-10 sec LT1/LS1s, its not hard to make an LT1 run its ***** off.

plans for the cars lol. where do i start.
the 72 just got the new 406 small block. but im already building a 509 big block for it as we speak. itll be a 1/4 mile car . but it still retains the factory interior, wheel tubs and suspension. its also a street driver.
the 95 z28. ive got some time n labor in this car. i plan on doing the 427 ls1 swap with tubular k member n control arms. i just had the car repainted a month ago. just got tt2s put on it. im happy with the car. just need more motor lol. the ls1 swap will suprise quite a bit of people lol. hey check out my webshots in my sig. its direct linked.

sounds like a good deal id take it. and dont worry about being the fastest just worry about having a good car that is fast, fun, and well taken care of. its not easy to find all three of those qualities in one car.

Looks is a matter of opinion. I was pissed when Chevy came out with the LS1 Camaro's. I don't like the headlights, but like a**holes, it's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the LS1 is the SH*T, But it's WAY too expensive to build. If I had that kind of money to spend, I'd build a killer big block. I think the LT1 Camaro's look awesome. The LT1 is cheap to build also. For these reasons, I would get an LT1 Camaro over an LS1 Camaro.

Obviously, my favorite Camaro's are the 1st gens, but I still use an LT1.

All the BS aside, get what "YOU" want, and don't worry about what everyone else thinks.

It's on my desktop right now. It really is a sweet looking car. The paint looks great, and I love that hood.

I would jump on it. I drive LS1 cars alot and i own an Lt1 car. Even tho stock to stock the LS1 is faster, there's something about an LT1 car that i like alot more. I love the fell of the low-end torque and they sound plain out evil . Go test drive acouple LS1 cars and see what one you like the best. Either way you cann't go wrong

biased yourself, whats wrong with the looks? what the hell are you doing in the LT1 area if your just gonna make an rude opinionated statement, right after knocking on sombody for giving their opinion. All hail the LS1 it is just so much more powerful and we could never touch it. Money is the issue here and as far as im concerned. Like said a lot of people just dont go past bolt ons.

Don't like mine ? heh j/k I finally did get around to bending everything back and it all lines up now. I just am too lazy to update the pics.

Anyways I like both looks. I think the LT1's F-body's look more like all muscle cars. The LS1's look more like a corvette/lexus mixture. I think the the LT1 can be made to sound better than any LS1 can be. But that's a matter of opinion. I'd say go for yoru dads car. I love my LT1, even more then the TT 3000gt i wrecked which DID stomp LS1's and 03 cobras
