Arrow LT1s

How fast are LT1s? I know they can be really fast jsut like anything. I was just thinking about buying a LT1 instead of a LS1 just to save money. I know they are rated at 275 but I plan on a supercharger so im not to worried about the base horse power. And also can you get them just as fast as most LS1s? Is it worth buying a LT1 to save a little money at first but in the long run would I be better off to buy the LS1 right off the bat?

sure they can be made faster, if you plan on a blower then, you may want to stick wirth the lt1, it boils down to preference.

also if you are interested i have a 94Z for sale if you would like details feel free to email me. for $5k you won't go wrong!

If you are gonna supercharge it go with the LT1. The blocks are stonger and generally can handle more power from FI.

Not to mention that there is room with an LT1 blower kit to use a 12-rib pulley...

I want to sell my car wich is a LT-1 and get a LS-1. A LS-1 with headers and full exhaust will make as much power as my heads cam LT-1 and be more reliable while doing it. MY set up is on the mild side since my cam has under 500 lift. But this is my opinion. Go with the LS-1

sheesh! ...you must have a really really mild heads and cam pkg for ls1 headers and exhaust to equal your lt1 rhwp...but to each their own I reckon

I don't think it would take all that much to bump her up to the 370 or better range. Better cam ($200) and maybe a little work on your heads, last but not least tuning being key and you'll be happy dude. Know what you mean though, kinda sucks when a cam w/tuning LS car puts down 400 ponies to the floor while we work our asses off to get to 400

So it looks like it is a toss up as much as the power you can get. Now how about the price in the long term. Would I be better off to spend the extra 5 to 10 grand for the ls1 or just get the lt1 and like my ricers friends say have extra money to modify the car. Another thing most lt1 cars have a few miles on them and the engine should probaly be looked at if I want forced induction how much does it cost to rebuild a lt1 to handle the boost?

Depends on if you need to finance. If you've got decent credit, you can get a good rate on a ls1. Hard to find bank financing on anything older than 7 years. Means you'll pay more interest. You can find good LT1s for $5K, though if you've got cash...

Theres a Black 98 Z28 6speed on Autotrader right now for 6900 bucks. LS1 and all, less than 100000k, thats only a thousand more for cheap LT1 cars. Go for the LS1, you'll be happier in the long run if you want to mod your car...just look around don't rush into anything.
