LT1-LT4 Modifications 1993-97 Gen II Small Block V8

need help with a cam question???

Default need help with a cam question???

i bought a coustom girnd cam which is .585intake, .595exhaust, 235/242 with a LSA of 112+4. here is my question, what does +4 on the 112 mean. and what does this mean when you install the cam? Does this mean i have to install the cam advanced 4 degrees or im i just going to line up the marks form the cam to the crank?

The +4 is 4 degress advance built right in. Just line up the marks. The guys at Comp told me that most cams for our car (off the shelf and custom) are all +4 anyway. No special installation necessary. Your cam is similar to mine, what's your cubes? What injectors are you running? I had a post on injectors but not getting anywhere. I'm needing to downgrade and was looking for what size of injectors people had. I had seen both 30# and 36# in 396 motors and was wanting opinions.

He has a 383 on 30# injectors.

The 112 is Lobe Seperation Angle which is pretty typical for LT1s, tighter like 108 would mean a nasty idle with bigger peak numbers, wider like 114 will mellow the idle and produce less peak power but have a wider powerband and is sometimes used to bandaid the selection of too big a duration. The +4 was already covered, playing with that number can affect where the powerband falls too.

Oh yeah well then me and Jim(intmd8) raced last night and I beat him with my quad turbo big block 2800lb fbody but only by one car length or so....

And to the cam question what those guys said are on...I just ordered a custom grind kinda like that...its 236/245 114lsa .569/.580
