First thing I would recommend if you intend on running, is obtain a set of Sub-frames (either bolt-ons/or weldons) along w/reinforced suspension parts, such as Tower Strut, RCA's, Panhard, etc.

This will reduce the body flex and preserve the integrity of your car. Basically, reduce the chance of squeeks, leaks, and the like. Now, if you do not intend on keeping the car, then I would suggest headers next, b/c most modifications will be benefited by the increased exhaust output. IMO, that is what I would do!

if its an auto DEFINETLY get a stall converter. that and a gear. it will be like night and day. along with a shift kit. headers, heads, cam,....
id personally do trans and rear end work, have some head work done, put it on a tire and spray the hell out of it but thats just me.

How many miles does it have on it? if more than 100,000 i'd say rebuild it, new opti-spark, cam and some LTs(maybe heads too). If least than that then i'd get a nicehead and cam package, bolt-ons, and some good tires. If it's a auto, do what stockrustang said, stall, gears and shift kit. Have fun modding

Well for the first thing I would get a cold air intake...then a cat-back and if you really want to start getting into things get some headers. See how you like the car after minimal mods before you go nuts with heads/cam. What do you want the car to do? Go fast? Handle well?
