Default Got my cats deleted today...

The guy who had this vehicle before me (my 97 Ws6) had a cat back flowmaster system on it. I had the cats taken off and the system still isnt that loud. I like the VERY loud and deep sound like i had on my 5.0's. Anybody have any suggestions????

Do you like a loud idle or are you looking for a loud WOT? My car is quiet at idle, but screams at WOT. I have longtubes though, but if you arent running cats long tubes shouldnt be a problem.

More than likely, youre Stang had a different series of Flowmaster muffler(s) on it. The f-body uses an 80 series muffler which is quiet and somewhat restrictive.

I have a flowmaster american thunder exhaust system. It's deep and loud. I also have long tubes which helps. I'm not sure but I think it has a 40 series muffler.

My GMMG with dual cats is pretty deep and gets pretty loud. Without cats I'm not too sure which systems are gonna give a real deep sound.

i had a single 3" series 40 flowmaster on my car and it was loud as hell when i took off the cat. sounded like an old turnip truck with no mufflers. you should listen to some other cars with the cats off before just buying something. i know have a dynomax muffler and love it and have tried others with my setup and the dynomax so far has netted the best gains. gonna try an aerochamber next just to see

You could always take the catback off and put a 10 series single chamber flowmaster on it. Seriously, I had the american thunder catback on my LS1 and it was quiet all the time. WOT wasn't really all that loud. Now, its insane. I did, however, swap that catback onto my LT1, fabbed a 2 1/2" offroad ypipe with a flowmaster y and its pretty dang loud, even at idle. What kind of yipe do you have? A stock one with new pipe spiced in where your cats were? On my LT1, it feels like it flows 100% more air on than the LS1.

I just had my exhaust guy cut out the cats and weld straight pipes in. Im not sure what series flows i have, they sound quiet as hell though. I want the loud obnoxious sound. Ive never heard of 40 or 10 series for this vehicle. Are they available through jegs or summit?

I like it loud all the time, the louder the better. I live in a no emissions area (for now), i plan on taking full advantage.

If you dont have emissions and you like it loud why dont you just run some sort of true duals.

GMMG all the way. With cats it is loud and it sounds really good. I had a 5.0 with no cats, LT's and flowmasters and this system on my Firebird blows that one away. Best sounded exhaust by far. My friend has flows and no cats on his 95 TA and mine sounds soo much better than his, louder, deeper, and just all around better. You will pay the price to get this exhaust, but in my book it is well worth it. Remember, if you want it louder, cut off the cats, I still ahve the cats on mine.

10 series and 40 series are availible through summit and jegs. I've heard a true dual, x-pipe, 10 series flowmaster set up that was dumped before the axle on an LT1, and I honestly think it sounds better on an LT1 than on my LS1.
