'My engine's toast' update - December
A quick summary for those who don't know the story, I blew my motor this past summer during a street race with an SRT 4 of all things (don't worry, I hhad him beat by about 5-6 car lengths
.) Worst part about it was that I only had the car on the road a month after waiting more than a year without having money for insurance to drive it. Anyways, I decided that I since I was going to have to rebuild the motor anyways, I may as well do a stroker. I decided to go with a 396 'cause everybody else and their friends all do the 383 thing. I wanted to be different. I also decided to switch over to a carb- again just to be different (man I got a lot of crap from everybody for deciding to go that route
Project "New Old School" has officially started. Next paycheck, the block wll be sent out for machine work to accept the 4bolt splayed caps and stroker crank.
Haven't decided on heads and cam yet, but the goal still remains 450+. Many say I can't do that and still be streetable but I feel confident that I can.
Tell me what you think, and if you have any suggestions on heads and or what cam to go with, let me know. Thanks.
- Forged steel crank
- H-beam connecting rods
- Forged Aluminum pistons
- 4 bolt splayed caps
- all the other crap that goes with it...
MY ALL FORGED 396 ROTATING ASSEMBLY
Since I just recently moved back home
I'll finally have some money to spend again. Looks like my car will be back on the road this spring afterall . Yeah !

Ok I see. If you use high end variables those numbers come out.
With a tight tolerance motor like the one I am building it comes out 12.99 CR

BTW I would only run a big chamber if you plan on running boost. For N'A I would go with at least a 64cc chamber

Hey man, I was looking at your cardomain site. That a really nice Z you've got. I noticed that you swithed to a solid roller with the 383. Is your car a daily driver? If so, how does it run with the solid roller. Is it streetable? Any draw-back's to it?? Let me know 'cause I still haven't decided whether I want to go to a solid or stay hydrolic.
Thanks.
