Default Valve cover clearance

I am currently building a 396 and having problems getting Valve covers to clear the Harland Sharpe 1.6 rockers, anybody had this problem or know of a solution?

I'm having the same problem, i can find alot of value covers to clear them but i cann't find any that have the notch for the alt. I'm just planning on cutting it of myself and slowy welding it back together so it doesn't worp. But now i need to find some that well clear the stud gruddels. Tell me know if you find anything.

Dmoor , a guy of another site suggest that you can mod the OE valve covers by clearing room inside or the lt4 valve covers will work. I will try tomorrrow and report back!

sometimes clearancing the stock valves won't do it. if clearance is still an issue, you may have to drop the extra cash for LT4 composites. here are the p/n's:

right - 12552321
left - 12552322
screws - 10108675
studs - 10108674
oil filler cap - 12555685

e-mail both of these guys. they should be able to give you the best price on everything. they both work for GM Parts:

When you say clearance, do you mean the actual rocker touches the side of the valve cover or the valve covers won't seat to the gasket? If it is the later its probably because the drip tabs on the covers are hitting the rocker arms. You can cut them off with a Dremel tool in about half and hour.

I had the same issue with mine. I cut the drip tabs out and they work fine now.

I run the promagnum 1.6 with guide plates, before I went with LT4s I cut out the cross braces in the stock covers and crushed the breather in the passenger side cover in order for them to work. Never had a problem with leakage.
