installing harmonic balancer hub??
Whats the secret to installing the harmonic balancer hub. I've already busted one bolt trying to do it without anti-sieze and tonight I think I may have stripped the threads in the nose of the crank doing it with anti-sieze. I know for sure the bolt is stripped. It appeared that the hub was going on and then got tight so I crank on the bolt a little then backed it out to make sure it wasn't over torqueing and found the tip of it stripped.
I bought an installer tool that said it was for small and big block chevy's but the stud on the end of the threaded shaft is to short to thread into the crank through the hub.
Any suggestions!!!

). I used a block of wood and a hammer on my Vette. Just lube the end of he crank and inside the balancer hub. Take your time and tap it in.Good luck.

This is a stock balancer.
I went to Lowes hardware and found longer grade 8 bolts of the correct size. I'm going to try them tonight so wish me luck, I hate it when these things come up. I guess we need to make sure to ask whether these installer tools will specifically work with an LT1 before buying them.
BTW: I have a question about these FluidDamper units. My LT1 is from a Caprice 9C1 and I'm installing it into a Datsun 240Z, will the FluidDamper work with the stock accessory mounts? I read somewhere that the hub used on the iron head LT1s is longer than the Corvette or F-Body models. I'm creating a mounting plate for idler pulleys that will replace both the AC compressor and PS pump and don't want to go to all the work and then find out later that it won't work when I get a new damper.
