Who has experienced converter lockup at WOT in 3rd?

Who has experienced converter lockup at WOT in 3rd? Just trying to figure out why so many people say this shouldn't happen. Mine locks around 5600 rpms as seen on the dyno. At the track, it almost feels like it's going into another gear but it is clearly going into lockup. I have a couple other friends who experience the same thing. 1 has a 95 Z28 and the other has an '86 corvette.

In a perfect world i would lock it up at 5,800-6,000 and go through the traps at 7,000
