Default Are these good times???

its a 94 lt1 z28 and the motor was on its last leg when we got it. just to let you know how bad the car was, we paid only 800 bucks with perfect interior but a not so perfect body, and hurt motor.
since its in this condition anyways and it was so cheap, we took all interior out and have 1 race seat. took out weight out of the dash, gutted the bumpers, took out condensor and a/c crap on the firewall. compressor is still on, motor is bone stock but we babied to health, home ported tb and maf, tb bypass, hacked box, stickies, stock everything on the car period. gutted cat and put a dump right after the cat, but still have the stock manifolds. no bolt-ons or power adders. it ran an 8.70 at 81mph in the 1/8, with a 1.98 60 foot. so doing the 1/4 mile math, that would be a 13.65. is that pretty decent from a motor that was overheated and crap, no bolt ons, just shaved weight???

any suggestions on what to do next would be helpful in going faster. we are trying to do this on a budget and havent spent over 1000 so far. actually have 450.00 invested after selling the interior crap lol

That time seems about right. I pulled a 13.6 (14.6 at 5300ft) with gears and a catback on my 93 Formula but I had serious issues hooking up out of the hole and only managed a 2.3 60'. Since then I've compensated with better suspension and tires so we'll see how I do come April when Bandimere opens back up.

Bah, you justed added to your post...

As far as going faster on a budget, check out the bolt-ons for newbies post; there's some good info there.

IMHO, I'd say get yourself a cheap catback, some gears, and top it off with a 125-shot and you should still be under $1000 and a second or more faster.

i have a 373 gear never installed yet. but we were thinking about getting longtubes. would that make a difference if i left them open headers or not??? its not going on the street so didnt know if it needed all the back pressure or not.but i dont think the gear will make that big of a difference untill getting a stall.
