Default cam question

I was looking into purchasing a cam for my car and i had my heart set on the comp cams cc306. However, once i heard the cam i was a little turned off by it because of how lopey it is. Click link too hear.

The cam sounds extremely mean but i really wanna keep my car for driving almost everyday in the summer and i want to be able to take my girlfriend out on dates in my car. Now i have very very basic knowledge of cams and cam timing, but what i was really wondering was, is there any way to keep the cam from being so lopey. I heard someone talk about reducing the LSA, is that true? I want the cc306 because of the power it produces but are there any other cams out there that will produce good power from about 2500 rpm to about 6000rpm without the lope.

The cc306 is a great cam and is very popular. Many people use it as a daily driver. When the lobe sep. is 112 is lower than it's going to sounds lobey. If you want to have a cam more streetable maybe you should look into the cc305. It doesn't make the same power but its power is in the range of 2500-6000 rpms.

That car was open headers during that video. Its gonna chop pretty hard because its a big cam but it wont be as promenant as in that video.

BTW, the link is down.

The CC306 is a great cam and with the proper combonation can yield great results(even on stock headed cars). You can overcome some of the lope by turning the idle up a bit, but I don't think anything can beat the sound of a CC306 with a nice open exhaust. Makes me wish it wasn't ten degrees outside so I could play.

Damn, if I had to worry about my car sounding like that and whether or not my gf liked it, the gf would be walking quite a bit. J/K

Actually, I have that vid downloaded and can listen to it all freaking night while I'm on the computer. That cam is, and sounds, badass . I really want to change from the cc305 I have now to that or the LE2 setup. Anyone know if the LE2 sounds as sweet as the cc306???

I have the cc305, and like LT1Camaroz28 said, maybe you should look into that one. It sounds sweet as well, not as choppy obviously as the cc306, but it'll get the job done on a DD.

Maybe with really good heads, great suspension, high stall and sticky tires. Then say good bye to your rear end.(unless you have a 12bolt/9"
