Default Recent Dyno Results

I took my 1994 Z28 to a recent dyno day. Here are the mods/results.
1994 Z28 M6 Coupe
Lloyd Elliott Heads, 2.02/1.60 valves, Combo 612 springs
1.6 Pro Mag RR's
Comp XE 227/233, 560/569 camshaft
Jet Hot LT's, True Duals (x-pipe, race bullets)
Moroso CAI
Moser 12 Bolt, 4.56 gears
Nitrous Works 175hp plate system

I am still running the stock unported intake, stock water pump, stock pullies with AC and did not drop the belt for the dyno pulls.

Prior Dyno before True Duals, had a Hooker Y-pipe and Hooker Catback 356hp/347tq with a 13.1 AF ratio

Dyno from this weekend, only change true duals. 347hp/328tq with a 11.9 AF ratio....just a little rich

Dyno from this weekend with 175 shot of nitrous. 497hp/510tq with a 12.9 AF ratio.
The rich NA condition turned out to be good for the nitrous pull. I plan to run nitrous at the track anyway so I am not too concerned with the NA numbers being a little low.

Those NA numbers seem really low to me. You should be pulling in the 400 RWHP range.

They are low, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to make 400rwhp with this camshaft. Also, everyone seems to think that 400rwhp is a given these days, when it really isn't. If the tune was set up for a NA pull and I had all of the bolt on stuff it might break 370rwhp. It made 356rwhp a while back on the same dyno. Regardless, 400 to the wheels is still tough even with the LT1 stuff coming along better here lately. There are a lot more 350rwhp-380rwph heads/cam cars out there than there are 400rwhp cars.

Those look like a great set of heads. People are making 350+ RWHP with ported heads and just a hotcam. I would just expect closer to 400 RWHP with that came. Not knocking anything. I just think you could get alot more with the right tuning

No offense taken. I live in Alabama so dyno tuning for LT1 stuff is not available anywhere as far as I know. I have a cable coming for laptop this week so I can datalog while on the dyno and do some "remote" live tuning. I still don't really think the cam can make 400rwhp, but 370-380 seems more attainable. I may just do away with the XE grind and go with a CC306 or a GM847. Like I said earlier though, I have to live with mail order tunes.

What part of Al do you live? Are you close to the AL/GA border? There are alot of tuners in Atlanta. Dyno Labs in Marietta Comes to mind. I would probably be a 2-3 hour trip but definately worth it.

I live in northern AL which is about 2.5 hours from Atlanta. I thought most of the tuners only did LS1 stuff in this area. I will have to check into that. Thanks.

I have to agree, those N/A numbers look really low. I am making 351.2rwhp/365.9rwtq with the cc306(230/244 .545/.576 112lsa) and STOCK HEADS.

Edit: Oh yeah, did I mention my car is an automatic?

400rwhp (N/A) is not as easy as all make it out to be IMO. Really good heads and a big cam are usually good for 360-380hp. I see 400+ on 383 & 396 strokers but that is a different ball game.

dynoed my car about a month ago at G Force.... and put down 295 RWHP 335 RWTQ... all i have is a full exhaust, pulley... not much... I would think that a lil cam and the right tunning would net me around 350 RWHP....

Looks like you lost a little chunk of torque going to the dual setup. Were the conditions similar? What kind of RPMs are you turning?

You should be able to get very close to perfect with a mail-order tune. I recommend PCMforless, the last 2 I've gotten from them have been great.

400rwph is hard to make with stock LT1 heads, think about it, there not the LT4 heads. 400rwph at the wheel is like what 440-460hp at the flywheel... and that would be made with a 12 bolt. Man thats so hard to do.

With a 12 bolt it wont be a dyno queen but I would expect numbers in the 360s atleast, take it to the track, that where it counts. Dyno racing is b.s any way, my car dynoes stout as well for a stock LT1 and trapped like **** at the track

I lost 12rwhp through the 12 bolt. I dynoed it following the install. Also, the dual exhuast richened the AF ratio up from 13.1 to 11.9 this past weekend. I figure this setup is good for around 365rwph with a new tune. I made 356rwhp prior to the true dual setup. The car pulls very well right now and the dyno graph is nice and smooth. I should have revved it higher on the dyno. I shut if down at about 6200 and it was still pulling. Also, everyone talks about making 400rwhp like it is easy to do. How many people do see doing it with a stock bottom end, stock castings and a smallish XE cam? If I went to a CC306 or a GM847 the 400rwhp mark would be more realistic.
