the optical sensor in the opti is going bad. You may as well just go ahead and buy the whole unit.

I seem to be having the same skip/miss/cutout at about 5000rpm. Sometimes i do get enough to get it to 5800rpm so it will shift but more times then none i have to lift to get it to shift. I'm not getting any codes, could the opti be some of the problem??

Non vented I think was 93-95 lt1's ,vented 96-97??

Yeah I have burnt up 3 optis in my 396 stroker in 3 months , so the boys at Rev xtreme have made som adjustments to it and we will see. Either way I plan to convert to coils by year end!

Can you upgrade the vented into a 95 LT1? My friends Caddy with the LT1 seems to be having a problem and I have a feeling it's the opti. I had the damn near exact problem with my 94 Z. Just wanted to know if they are interchangeable.

The caddy will already have the vented. To convert a non to a vented, you need a new cam, timing cover, distributor, harness, and vacuum line.

So, has anyone even received the MSD Cap & Rotor yet? I freaking doubt it since MSD is not showing a release date until March 31. I ordered one through HPE here in Houston after I called MSD to find out it's the whole unit. Internal sensors and all. I have been waiting & waiting only to have MSD put it off again. If anyone has received their MSD unit, please reply to this...

Thanks,

So all the Caddy owners got the vented then automatically? I just want to make perfectly certain before having him purchase the wrong part. The vehicle is a 95.

Yes, all 1994 - 1996 B/D bodies (Caprice, Roadmaster, Impala, Fleetwoods) got the vented Opti.

I have a couple of spare optical pickups I keep aside just incase one goes bad I can replace just that part.

I have Dynotech Engineering Opti and the car feels stronger that it has in a while. All the faults of the GM one are corrected in this one.

I ordered my kit from summit and I have had it on the car for about three weeks now I believe. It is a good kit and I have had no problems.
