Default NEW 383 almost in woohoo

well finally pet new motor together I just need to put flywheel and clutch in...

383 APE stroker
11:5:1 diamond pistons forged
236/245 114lsa .569/.580
Callies 4 bolt splayed caps
Eagle rods and crank
Stock Ported LT1 castings for now.
Comp 918 Behive springs
1.6 roller rockers(promag)
Mcleod street twin clutch w/ adj master
Jethot long tubes with their 2200degree coating(not sterling silver)
Csi EWP
Dennys nitrous shaft and Ford 9 w/posi to go in soon
oh and some JUICE
first kit TNTF1 150 or 100 shot
second will be 100 or 75 dry
What do ya guys think?
I think it should put some decent numbers

Sounds Great! 114 lsa cam will work great with nitrous.. What will be your choice for the flywheel? Fidanza?

yeah thats why I went with the 114 for the juice otherwise I would have gone 112 like my old little cam...I actually will be using the steel flywheel that shipped with the mcleod...I would have gone aluminum but just didnt have the cash and also the steel provides better launching characteristics

congrats, post numbers when its broken in.


im almost done dropping in my new 383 also, almost exactly the same as your setup except a few things

my cam is a 238/245 with 590ish lift
my springs are regular dual coils...i wanted beehives but already had these laying around.
regular waterpump (scared of electric failure)

with the waterpump its real rare to hear of failure I think the needle bearings fail more than the electric waterpumps do...just my opinion though..plus if it stopped u would see the temp rise before any damage incurred...That was my reasoning behind it...but to each is own...Nice setup though you went even bigger than me on the cam...Are you gonna spray it or anything...Congrats on new setup

I dont have flow numbers they are stock valve sizes though so I know theyll be holding it back some but I didnt have the money to spend on heads right now...my friend ported and polished em and the car gained 100hp from a 224/230 cam and these heads and headers so they did decent...Ill take some pics later and load em

thanks, im really eager to get it back, and keeping my fingers crossed that nothing breaks/blows up.

eventually im definetly gonna spray it.....my friend has a 175 kit that he isnt using, so ill give that a try.

i wont have any track times until i buy a 9" for it, but ill take it to the dyno after break-in and post numbers.

well actually my price is gonna differ because the machine shop that APE use to use for their machining was waaaay backed up so here is what happened..

In june I ordered a 355 from APE for 2300.00 I didnt receive the motor til beginning of october...But for my troubles they sent me a 383 instead with those specs I previously listed... So yes I got the deal or steal of a lifetime... A fully forged 383 for 2300.00...

my 383 short block was around $3300, a few years ago...everything forged but the crank...But that was with Nu-Tek Motorsports, right before they went under..They did a great job too.
