Default Quick Mac header question

In a few weeks I'm planning on ordering mac midlengths coated from jet-hot, I have a 97 but I want to order the 94-95 version so I don't get that wierd driver side shortie header. My question is if I order these headers http://www.lmperformance.com/4614/2.html and I order this kit from SLP http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/inkit19lt1fc.html will I be able to just bolt the s pipe to the back of the MACs and then slip it into my current cat-back? I already have an LS1 style cat-back with the appropiate hangers. I'm trying to do this without going to a muffler house becasue the ones around here aren't very good.

That S pipe isn't from the header to the cat, its from the I pipe of the cat-back to the cat. MAC sends an extra piece of pipe to make the cat and headers connect. It may require some fabrication though (bending a little) mine did. I had an exhaust place do it.

I plan on not using any cats though, so does anybody know if the s pipe will bolt to the headers? Also have any of you not hooked up the emmisions to your macs? I'm going to delete my emissions so I guess I'll try to make some block off plates for the macs, not sure what to do with the air fitting though.

I just found these while seraching around, is anybody running these? The website said they are for 95-97 f-bodies and from the look of the y-pipe it would seem that it takes the place of the cats.

No the S pipe won't work to mate up with the headers, it is bent obviously, so it won't line up.

Your easiest route may be to find a used 94-95 catback, and then, replacing the cat is as easy as finding a straight piece of pipe.

Any competent exhaust shop should be able to fab something for you though.

I'm new to this board, so forgive me if this is a breach of etiquette here, but I know that many members at camaroZ28.com have used 94-95 headers on 96-97 cars, so you might want to try a search over there. I think that there are other issues that you have to watch out for as well.

Forgive me for referencing the other site, but since this is mostly an LS1 board anyway, I figured it wouldn't hurt too many feelings.

I guess I should mention that I have a 94 with Jet-Hot coated MACs. I love 'em.

Cool, thanks for the feedback, I e-mailed jet-hot and they said there is a pipe that will mate the 94-95 style to my catback so when I have the money I guess I will give them a call, did you feel a big power difference when you had your macs installed?

Thanks,

I did notice a "seat of the pants" difference, although I have not put it on a dyno or taken it to the track to quantify anything. It was most noticeable in higher rpm's as the engine seemed to not run out of breath as early as with the manifolds.

From the stuff that I've read, the 1 5/8" primaries won't slow you down until you get above 400 rwhp or so. Advanced Induction has some dyno numbers with one of their head/cam packages that customers have sent in showing basically identical numbers with 1 3/4" primary longtubes and MAC 1 5/8 primary mids.
