Default edelbrock lt1 kit

What is your thoughts on the new Edelbrock power package for the LT1?
I was thinking of picking this up Edelbrock states a gain of 73.1 hp and 36tq over stock on a vette. I wonder how well it would do on a 383 bottom end.

I think you can gain more from a different h/c set up. AI sells some and Loyd Elliot does other packages. For the same money you can get more power.

Consider all the variables and fine print which states they also switched to 1 3/4" headers but doesn't say from what which leaves me thinking probably manifolds and it would have needed tuning too which you know they took their time and did right, I would be willing to bet that the baseline was on stock tuning. The kit is a joke and nowhere near what you want for a 383. People are FAR too quick to dump the factory heads probably because of the crap GM was producing before the LT1/Vortec heads. The 70s and 80s stuff was much weaker than the LT1 stuff, stock the worst of the LT1 heads outflow the best of the musclecar era stuff and do so with smaller valves.

What are your goals for your car?

For the most part your can make more power then that combo with ported lt1 heads and cam package, and full bolton's with dyno tune.

Some have gained that much hp without ported heads.

I really hope Edelbrock comes out with a LT1 head that will perform much more like the Victor Jr. small block heads.

im looking for 11.50's from the car would like to do so all motor. Im new to f-body performance ive had them before but did not get into modding them. I have also been looking at the lt4 kit from jegs and a 383 long block from goldens engine service. Jegs claims 425+ fro lt4 but in sure thats with bolt on and at the flywheel. Same with goldens engine service they claim 480 hp but for 6800 bucks im sure i can do the same if nit better local with a lt4 block and a luaniti rotating assembly. Im just trying to get info from people who may have experince going this route edelbrocks horsepower cliams sound good but i think the torque could be better

www.advancedinduction.com talk to them about your set up and they can get the most out of it. The LT4 kit is another one that has dyno tuning and other mods that they don't tell you about. Spend less and make more power!

If you test a stock motor the same way they tested the LT4 HOT kit you would end up over 350hp fairly easily. People forget about the power lost to intake and exhaust restrictions, accessories and the like all needed to get an engine into a car once you take those into consideration a lot of crate motors and the like don't look as good as they did before.
