Default Well this sucks!!!

Well today is a very bad day! I took the car out for a cruise around lunch time and met up with my buddy. We were messing around a little bit and I punched it from a light. Spun then hooked up but then at the top of first gear the tires broke loose and I hit the rev limiter hard for a few seconds before i could realze what was going on.

Well anyways to make a long story short, i definatly broke something. Car makes all kinds of noises and doesn't not want to run correct, let alone at all. I'm going to take the top end of the motor apart starting today i guess and try to figure out what i did. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

EDIT: I'll post up what I find, but if anyone had any ideas what it could it could save me some time. Thanks again.

I will meet you out there to begin the tear down... Atleast the race was cool before your car took a ****.

Well R.I.P Firehawk.

Hopefully we will have her back to life in no time.

Collapsed lifter possibly? Busted valve springs? Bent valves?

First thought in my head was a bent pushrod. Possible? When I got off the gas, it sounded like hmmm how to decribe it, nails in a can (along with a ton of other noises).

Can't think of a good way to describe the sound.

A buddy of mine in his ls1 decided to grab 2nd instead of 4th while he was racing and needless to say overrevved the **** out of it. he bent some pushrods and kissed almost every valve to the cylinders leaving the little dish marks and bending the valves. I doubt u did that though, its not like you grabbed 2nd going around 80 and stood on it. pull the pushrods out and roll them on a flat surface, prolly all u did was bend a few pushrods. hopefully anyways

Yea if its bent the valve cannot fully open and close. What you prolly did, at least what my friend did was hit the valve on the piston which bent his pushrods, and like i said earlier i hope u didnt hit it hard enough to get the valves also.

We thought it was just the pushrods so he put all new ones in and it still ran (well hardly ran) like crap, then he knew he did more to it.

im sure there are other things that could have happened that arent as bad, im no expert on this, just telling what i have seen

You have hardened pushrods so bending them is not really easy. Either way I'd pull the heads and check the valves. Not worth replacing pushrods then reassembling only to find you need new valves. Nows the time for a cam swap

I don't recall it being that bad of a noise. Wasn't real loud or anything. But it was a constant sound.

I havn't had much time to take a look at it (work full time during the day) and i am working outside (dads nova is in the garage). But today i got most of the hoses and wires off and the TB.

Is it normal to have excess (or what i think is excessive) amounts of black build up on the manifold side of the TB and inside the manifold itselft? I'll post up some pics of "how bad" it is tomorrow when its daylight out.

Man I know the feeling of that klunkity klunk engine noise, it's sickening, depressing, total %$#ing bummer. Maybe you'll luck out and it be a loose RR, broke spring or lifter (minor). Otherwise wish you the best of luck.

Unhappy Problems

Sorry to butt in I am a new member and do not know how to work this site yet I have a Question for you Dudes First off where do I ask my on questions from on here and second a most important is.I have a 93 Z28 six speed that I just traded for about 4 months ago. When I got the z it had just had a new water pump put on it.It had a problem when I would floor it,after I would it would die on me sometimes. It never failed to start back up even though it would take some cranking and it was also burning rich.I was told it was the opti-spark being that the water pump went out and they did not replace it at that time.I priced the opti-spark and choked!I also heard that MSD was coming out soon with a performance opti-spark,so I have been waiting on that and hoping that my car would be able to until then.Anyway I decided to change my computer one day and it fixed the problem and seem to add about 50 horsepower. It ran like a scalded dog,so recently I bought a cold air intake off of e-bay,its not a name brand but it looks nice on the car and seems to add another 15 horsepower or so.My car was running awesome for a while, good enough to get me a ticket, then about two weeks ago it started to break up on me at four grand,it runs fine till then, and you have to floor it to get it to break up and it seems to be getting worse, now it begins to break up at about three and a half.I have had the chip in and out a couple of times, could that be the problem or what?If there is anyone out there that has any suggestions or send me to someone on here that could help me I would appreciate it.Before this problem my check engine light was on,I had a test run on it and it pulled a (Quad Drive Fault 1)I beleive it was a code 26.Does anyone know what this means? It was running fine then but it might be an accessor,I DONT KNOW,Please help I miss my horses!I cant really afford to get it fixed so I will be doing it myself but I dont know where to start?ricky0598@midtnn.net or on ls1tech.com,I am Zero28secGone
