Default Heads and Cam swap question

Aiight, i am wanting to swap out my heads and cam for something a little bit more "spunky." I have Hooker Longtubes, Moroso CAI, X-pipe (dumped b4 rear axle), turndowns, lower control arms, strut tower brace, and subframe connectors. NOW- i am wanting to see about 450 HP with a heads and cam combo. Even 500 if that is possible, and then i am gonna run 100 shot. Oh yeah- I know next to nothing about heads and cams, and my uncle is a mechanic who owns his own shop, but he thinks my 97 Z28 is fast enough.. I don't though.. PLEASE HELP..

Can anyone give me all the specs on what i will need on the Cam and Heads??

You are going to be somewhat hard pressed to see 400 to the wheels with a heads/cam setup and stock displacement. That being said, there are more and more folks hitting the 400 mark with full bolt-ons and heads/cam.

If you're looking for 500 you might want to start thinking about some converted SBC 2.2's or Brodix because without a power adder or some converted heads, I don't see it happening.

I would suggest doing a search over at CZ28 in the LT1 tech section and read what others have done....unfortunately it's not as simple as just throwing together a set of heads and a big ole cam.

LE3 pacakge would get you there or real damn close, you will need new injectors though to keep up with it, possibly a new fuel pump. www.eportworks.com I've only heard good things about him.

i'd learn a little more about it before you go shooting for that kind of horsepower. N/A it'll be pretty much un-streetable. you'll need to lay out your goals first. if you just want it for racing, spray it. i dont think you realize how much horsepower that is. read up on CZ28 for a while and stick around some guys making horsepower like that and learn some more about it.

for some big HP like that you will give up driveability unless.....you go with a solid roller cam. This will be a tad more expensive but driveability will be better cuz the faster ramp rates. If money were no object I would get LME to convert a set of Brodix heads and a Victor intake. Then get comp or crower to grind you a custom solid roller cam. Then with all bolt ons 470+ would be possible...however the rpm range would be too high for stock rods possibly depending on the cam. So tell comp or crower your exact wants/ needs and see what happens. Pre planning this is the best way to be succesful.

I had a 93 6spd all bolt ons,stock bottomend,stock ported heads,and hyd.roller, made 438 and ran 11.70@123! call Futral Motorsports 1-877-784-FAST
