the engine that came with the 94 TA I just purchased had SRP -16cc dish pistons in it. In the "budget" piston catagory, looks liek SPR is on there game right now with good design and lightweight. If $$ is no object. Look to mahle

I bought Diamond's D shaped Blower/turbo piston. They are a very good piston at a very good price. I did a lot of searching and found that most of the SRP pistons are made from 4032 aluminum which is a lower grade. If you check with JE, their pistons are made from 2618 aluminum which is a stronger, higher grade. Diamond's Blower piston is made of 2618 aluminum also and is a blower specific piston for the price of an SRP piston. Better materials, better price.....JMO!

Here is a quote from Diamond Racing's Q&A on their website.

What material are your pistons made from?
We use two different materials, 2618 & 4032. 2618 is used in most of our severe duty / power adder applications. It requires slightly more piston to wall clearance and can stand up to the abuse of a power adder. 4032 is used for applications that are more on the mild side. 4032 has less of a expansion rate which allows us to use it with tighter piston to wall clearances. This is great for direct replacement factory pistons. Call one of our tech's and they will let you know which material is good for your application.

This is from SRP's description of their blower piston.

8.0-11.1 Compression Ratio

Forged from 4032 low expansion high silicon aluminum alloy heat treated to SRP specifications
Ring land and crown thickness specifically engineered for turbo, supercharged and nitrous applications
Forced Pin Oiler for increased wrist pin lubrication
Pin fitting and double spiro locks included
927-2750-150 wall wrist pin (130 grams) included
CNC Machined ring grooves accept 1/16 1/16 3/16 rings (Rings Sold Seperately)
Optional tool steel pins available.

Food for thought if you are wanting durability with price!

You can get the info from www.diamondracing.net and from www.jepistons.com. On Diamond's site, go to the "frequently asked questions page" for some of the info. On JE's site, if you go to the sportsman's section, you get teh information for each piston.
