Default Opti Spark, options???

Howdy, I think (THINK) my LT1 may be showing signs of a failing opti, almost like it has bad gas in it. I'm going to go through one more tank if it lasts that long to determine if its ignition or fuel delivery (hasnt kicked any codes). On a side note, I'm planning on spraying my motor with a 100-125 shot to start off. I got to talking to a friend and he mentioned going to the LS1 ignitions? A Delphi system I think its called? I have tried to research on it, or even find MSD stuff for the LT1, seems like my heroes (MSD) have abandoned this motor to all but a cap and rotor. Any insight?

Delteq www.delteq.com it replaces the HighVolt side of the opti, which is the most prone to failure. it uses the lowvolt side to operate. you can leave a opti in which has a fried highvolt side, its immaterial to the Delteq system.

Still a single coil. DelTeq is 4 coils. 2 sparks per coil.

Maybe I can go ahead and describe what its doing. During acceleration, if I'm not really in it, she somewhat sputters and the exhaust changes tone. It also surges or is rough at idle, going from 500-900'sh RPM continually. Whenever I get into overdrive the the lower RPMs set, if I give it gas it'll clip out really bad. It has hooker headers and a CAI, but the EGR is still on (smog pump removed). I'm guessing its a blocked EGR? I'm removing it tomorrow either way but I figured with the symptoms somebody would be able to tell what it is just in case.

The things you mentioned, surges, rough idle, loss of power. These usually indicate a bad opti. Your best off going with another GM optispark, they usually last a long time provided you don't break them. The GM optispark comes with a one year warranty. The installation is also pretty damned easy provided you align the cam shaft pin on right.

You can get one for about $225 shipped. Recieved mine in 5 business days.
