the tip and advice still stands now shut up bafoon and get over it.

Bafoon?..I have 5 ASE's and have pissed more automotive knowledge than you posess.

I am not talking about your very few little experiences. I have seen hundreds if not more alternators go out the door and I have seen damn near as many Delcos come back garbage. Especially their CS series. I had 5 of them sitting on my shelf that were garbage.

Now run along and go try to impress someone else with your thimble full of experience and knowledge.

Talking Dumb but tough

I'm a brand new LT1 owner and I've already learned my first lesson. I bought a 95 iron head from a Cadilac Fleetwood, it had all the parts except.... the distributor, water pump and all brackets and pulleys. Man this stuff can get expensive. I'm still glad I did it, it's the cleanest motor I've ever torn down and for $250 I figured I couldn't go too wrong.

i don't know if this was posted earlier but, makes sure you check or change your oil pump drive when you rebuild or do a cam change .i over looked that and paid for it after a few thousand miles.one more thing if you are going to spin a high milage motor 6500+ rpms change your oil pump to a HV or HP.it quite possibly will save you a rebuild.i use a melling HV with no problems spinning up to 7000 rpms on a stock short block.

Lets see let me think of some of mine.
1) Putting a bunch of money into a car ill prob never finish. (My 90 RS)
2) Going to a different tint shop I didnt know well and they scratch my hatch glass.
3) Using the power bleeder on the clutch res and leaking fluid all down into the wheel well. Got it cleaned up but it was stupid not to clamp the hose better first.
4) Just a bunch of little things I do sometimes when I alrdy know better but get in a rush...Always take your time do not try to do things with little time it will only make things go wrong.
5) Left my radar detector hanging and it fell and put a small dent in my perfect dash maybe I can fix it.
6) Try to torque everything to specs that you can.
7) Buying a black car
8) Try not to drop bolts under the hood cause they mysteriously disappear.
9) Spending all my money on my car
10) Always use a flare wrench on lines

Being in a rush and forgot to put oil back in the car when I was done changing it!! Yeah I know! That was my favorite car too. Drove it into a small lake. Made me feel better. Got the money to buy a new one. SHHHHH dont tell!

Well, i did all the stupid **** on my 3rd gens when i was younger, tried the "squarel trap" with a AC blower motor mounted under the hood to create "boost". Althought any power gained from forced induction prolly was lost on alternator drag.

installed a turbo and reused stock elbow with plug, and car was running crazy idling, surging, bucking. cutting off.
as soon as psi came up it blew plug out of elbow, after the maf. must have did it as soon as the car saw psi for first time. thought i had blown motor up
also plumbed psi gage wrong

anyone ever leave a spoon in a blender before crankin her on high; damn. But I havent really made any mistakes with the SS, I think mistakes happen when you try and do things quickly, or when there's an audience standing there watching you. Like me, I work a lot slower and take my time with everything when its just me because I like to do my own thing.. but when someones helping me i feel like if I go into detail with every little thing and take my time that they'll get the sighs going like come on. LIke who cleans the underside of their car? lol, meee.

hmm let me see, a previous newbie mistake, getting my 1989 rs camaro painted and forgetting to tell them to paint the t-top area as well

putting a glass pack with no cat on a 2.8 v6 under the passenger seat area! haha back in those days. Thats was a big no no

Drilling out the back seat brackets in my 89rs, goodness that was dumb

Getting a t-top car 89rs

i think ive learned from a lot of my mistakes with a good amount of cars, but im sure there may be more to come.

my 02 ss, HARDTOP you can tell i learned my lesson with t-tops. I waited for months to find the ss I wanted.. extremely happy with my choice.

my biggest mistake would be spending $90 on 4 prong sparkplugs...******* at o'riellys should have just spent 20 and got regular plugs

dont let a jackass tranny shop install your clutch properly, but forget to put the flywheel on in the factory location, thus creating a minor vibration that turns your crank to mush 25,000 miles later.

buying 918 springs and yeah, you guessed it!

hmm my mess ups...
1.) not on my car, but my friends Blazer... he wanted to install subs in it with the stock cd player... and i am used to having an accessory wire to work with to power the remote... do more research on this because 12v power wont power the remote, and the job that should have taken me about 2 hours tops without a voltmeter (which is a must in stereo work) turned into about a 7 hour job and asking many people where to run remote power...
2.) BRAKES.... make sure you work one side at a time and use the other side for reference if you get stuck.... pulling off both calipers and pulling the pads out of both side without paying attention makes for a fun time if you dont know what you are doing really...
3.) make sure when buying a car that the owner doesnt say.... "well i was told its the alternator squealing..." because that could be a lot more than just an alternator... basically, look the car over and KNOW what is wrong with the car if something is known to be wrong... don't accept what their friends say they think it is... get it checked out and take your time...
4.) dont be afraid to work on your car... with a set of sockets and wrenches, almost anything can be done on these cars... and, if you dont have the proper tools, auto zone rents tools every day and gives refunds when you bring them back... saves big bucks in the long run... and just because "OH THESE CARS ARE ALL RAN BY ELECTRICAL STUFF!" is all you hear by the tards that dont own these cars, they are still held together by the same bolts that have been used for hundreds of years...
5.) a Haynes or Chiltons manual is a god for the people that are beginning to work on their cars... just looking through the book when you are bored gives you ideas of how stuff works in the car and why it is there if you dont really understand it yet...
6.) the most important step... dont buy a ford

How about not knowing what the pcv is on a carb'd 350 and trying to figure out why it won't start after you broke the valve...
Or trying to figure out what going on with your transmission while it's on the ground and making yourself a new birthmark on your arm from the 5-million degree exhaust pipe you weren't paying attention to...
