carbed lt1
yeah the GMPP dual plane intake for the LT1. Also people have used SBC 2.2 heads converted for the LT1 with victor style manifolds. Main problems are related with distributor clearance out back. Thermostat etc.....you know.
Yep. Went with a 95 iron headed Cadillac LT1 (balanced), a demon carb, the GMPP manifold, a Comp cams big bumpstick, a mallory Distributor, mated to a TH350, 3800 TCI stall and running a 4.10 gear in a 1986 Camaro. Went 11.89 @ 112 at Hub City Dragway (Hattiesburg, MS) in the cold with a 1.75 60' on drag radials.
I am impressed with the performance of the LT1. Please do not ask about the fitment of the engine/ trans into the 86 Camaro, as it was a nightmare. The trans was mounted to the trans crossmember and away we went. Big Hammer and a sawzall works just fine.

If not using the factory engine management I really don't see the point to putting an LT1 in something that never came with one. In that case the biggest benifit the LT1 would have over a gen1 would be the heads and well Vortec heads have the same ports as the iron LT1 heads which outflow most of the aluminum LT1 heads, the Vortec also have a slightly wider selection of intake available due to their HUGE popularity in budget racing classes. Not to mention you can probably pick one up cheaper.
