header bolt question???

i am using a half 1/2inch bolt or 3/4inch can i jump up to a 1 inch bolt or will i damage the head. the reason is because the one i have are to short and it feels like they want to strip the inside.

If you're using a 1/2" I can see why it feels like it isn't grabbing. You can use 1"...the ARP's I have are 3/8 x 1".

I have no issues with my ARP 3/8 X 3/4" long w/ my Hooker long tubes.

I tried 1" bolts and they seemed to long. I'd stick with the 3/4". Thats what I have now holding on my pacesetter LTs with no problems. Thunder racing sells stage 8 locking header bolts in both sizes but, eh... to pricey just for bolts if you dont care about the locking fastener part.
