Default Back Wrapin

I have a 95 Z28 LT1 I do all my own mods
1) I am having trouble with the car always making a loud back wrap when I open it up full throttle or let off the gas in high rpm.
2) It never did this before and now i have added alot of bolt ons and the car has started to make this noise. what can I do. Could it be to much or not enough Gas, air leak, not enough something? Hope someone can help.
3) I do not have the MSD box on yet but am hoping to burn more fuel because you can smell the emtions a little bit at lights or when you turn it off. Smells like it is not burnning the fuel all the way.

LT1 350
edlbrock short headers y pipe
elc water pump
pulleys
MSD 6AL
No cat
3in magnaflow muffler
Chiped MAF

58mm TB
"chipped" MAF [whatever that means]
computer tuned

Your problem more than likely lies in one or more of those things. Bad tune, or the MAF tables are screwed up. The 58mm is also overkill for that setup.

I looked around in my home town for some help. a few people told me that it could be my intake or some place down the exhaust. I checked all the way down my pipes replaced gaskets, and it still back pops like crazy.
NEW QUESTION
How hard is it to remove the intake and how long does it take. Do I have to remove both vavle covers, or heads to get it off. what kind if any extra tools i might need to finish this

i have no idea what a "back wrap" is but i use thermacare after a hard workout if my back hurts.

if you let off at high rpms the engine is choked and you'll hear a popping kind of sound. nothing is wrong, its just that you let out of the throttle and the rpms dont drop instantaneously. it has nothing to do with your mods. i think you have no idea what you're talking about. i hope you have someone helping you do these mods.

you dont need to take the valvecovers or heads off to take off the intake, just make sure you dont get any junk into the intake ports when you scrape off the old gasket. good luck.

WOW do you work on your car because you have no clue what your talking about. The car has never poped like this before. I already talked to people here who have gave me adv. and YES I DO ALL MY OWN WORK. Your daddy work on yours. I don't need people talking **** when they dont even know them selfs. when removing a intake you do have to remove the vavlecover and empty the coolant. But you didnt know that because your daddy works on yours. I didn't need talk back from a kid. please get a life. thank you Ryan.

alright girls lets be adults here. everyone just needs to relax a little. stock camaros do back fire in the exaust infact all engines do, it is just excess fuel burning when it hits the hot exaust if thats what your talking about. it is probably just being exagerated by the cat back system because that what cat backs are basically big resonaters. and from what i've heard 58mm is more for head worked or lobie cams it could be messing with your a/f ratio, maybe you could switch back to the stock tb and see if that kills it. (the problem that is)

Thank you. I did think about the fuel problem and I just got my MSD 6AL today because the first one had no spark. I am going to try that out and then take it to a friend of mine and have him check the system for me. and yes you can smell un used fuel. After that I am going to get the fuel rail regulator and see what happens. That Way I can do more self adjustments. another thing about the 58mm is that to get it running right you have to cut the TPS so u can move it. the reson for that is to put the idle back to stock. After you cut the TPS you can adjust the idle from under 1000 or over 1,5000.

Wrong, You do not need to drain your coolant OR remove your valve covers. I've resealed many LT1 intakes. Never had to remove the covers or drain the coolant.

It's very easy to do, get yourself a fuel line disconnect tool, unplug each injector (dont worry they've got a number written on the bottom so you dont have to mark em)

unplug your MAP, TPS, IAC, etc from the intake/throttle body, remove the throttle cable (and cruise cable) from the drivers side of the TB.

If you havent already done the TB Bypass mod, nows a good time to do it. There will be two coolant lines on the bottom of the TB, unplug each one and connect them together (93-94)

Remove the 4 bolts that hold on your TB. (This obviously after you've removed your intake elbow/MAF and intake box (or cold air intake))

Some of the intake bolts are studs that require you to remove, or move some brackets. You do NOT need to remove your alternator. Just the one bracket (V shaped) that runs to the first stud on the passanger side of the intake.

Make sure your vac lines are pulled, you'll have one for your HVAC, etc.

After that get at those bolts. Some you can get with a deep well socket, some will take a wrench.

Have fun man, if you have any questions post em up.

No problem buddy. Remember to torque the intake bolts back down in 2 steps. You also need to go in a spiral configuration. Let me get my haynes manual. I can give you all the details.

Alright.. Looking at first step, go to 71 INCH lbs, second step around go to 35 FT lbs.

scanning the picture in now for the tightening sequence.

GM ran coolant through the TB. You just run the two coolant lines together so the TB doesnt heat up.

the coolant flows through the TB because there is a sensor that only really needs coolant to heat it up if you live in very cold areas. not needed in cali.

Close but not quite.

LT1's only have 2 coolant sensors. One located in the drivers side cyl. head, the other in the front of the waterpump housing. There are no coolant temp sensors in the Throttle body.

take the car back to where you got in tuned and get some work done on your decell fuel cutoff table. sounds like its not cutting fuel fast enough and its gettin into the exhaust.
