Default ok here is my problem?

i have a 94 z28 pretty much stock thith lt's, and all exhaust. ok i was driving down westiemer and i was almost on E so i was going to pull in to a gas station but car shut off before i could get to gas station. well asfter car shut off i went and got gas about teo gallons worth, and i put it in and i figured i would start it and go fill up the tank. but ever since then the car hasnt started. well i have worked on it all weekend to the point were i had to buy a new starter because the old one burnt out. OK now the car doesnt start, so i changed plugs and the car started but it was really really loud and rough couldnt idel and i couldnt take my foot off the gas or it would shut off, so im sitting there reving it at 3rmps and out of no where the oil pressure reads 0 so i shut it off and checked everything and it smelled alot like gas so i checked for leakes and nothing so i checked if i had oil and it looked funny. So i pulled the dip stick and it has gas in the oil? i would say a good 4-5 quarts of gas , and about 4 oil, so i do an oil change and filled a 15 quart oil thing holder almost to the point of being filled. ok first off is gas in the oil bad? and after i changed the oil i put new oil and i tried to start it again and the pressure went up again , now why doesnt my car want to stay on and idle normal,. it has gas pressure, new opti 3 weeks old from dealer new coil 1 month old module new wires plugs, and the car takes for ever to start and when it does start it has to be revd up really high. so what could be wrong also my check engine light is on how do i check it on a 94 z thanks

It sounds like you're really flooding the motor with fuel. That's definitely NOT normal. I wouldn't recommend that you even attempt to start/run the car, for now. The gasoline is most-definitely destroying the oil's ability to lubricate the motor. And, you're probably washing the cylinder walls of oil. This could mean spun bearings and excessive wear in the cylinders / piston rings.

What kind of fuel pressure are you seeing at the schrader valve on the fuel rail? Does it hold after the car is shut off? As Firehawk stated above, running out of fuel can fry the fuel pump. But, that doesn't sound like your problem. I almost wonder if you somehow sucked up a bunch of dirt in the gastank, and it's possibly holding the injectors open? Just a far-stretched theory -- not sure how it would get past the fuel filter...

You really need to get the car scanned to see what codes you are throwing. That would be the first step I would take. Buy a scan tool, or try to rent one. Again, I wouldn't even attempt to start/run the car, for now -- you could be causing further damage to the motor...

it sounds like it is working, and instead of dropping the tank and putting a new one i put a fuel pressure tester on it and it reads 40 and up when i put the key and when it turns on it stays at 28-30 psi

Where is the fuel pressure tester read from? The schrader valve? Perhaps the fuel pump isn't drawing enough current to pump up 40 psi. Without starting the car, maybe there is enough juice to pump up 40 psi but when you start it, the voltage goes to the rest of the car and strains the fuel pump. Just a guess here. But that doesn't explain why there is gas in the oil?

it reads 40 when i turn the key in the on position and when it does get started it read 28-30 psi and yes from the schrader valve

Bad pump seems logical to me but gas in the oil does not.

That I do not know. From what you have described, it sounds bad to me. I can't think of anything else that would cause low fuel pressure after start up.

well the opti has only 1000 miles on it and is new but also at the same time i have a very bad oil leak behind it so i am getting it swapped out at the dealer. hopefully this will be my problem but i dought it, i still have to get it scanned and see why the check engine light is on.

I would also check the Fuel Pressure Regulator. I have had a few go out in the past few years and start pouring fuel in the intake. Pull the vacuum line off going to it and check if there is fuel coming out of it. Actually had it Hydrolic one motor!

May not be it but it is one more thing to check

Check the injector fuses too, I had a very similar problem with some dodgy wiring that kept blowing one of the injector fuses and leaving it running on 4 cylinders. You get a code 18 on a '94 LT1. Maybe you got a load of water from the bottom of the tank mixed in there too?

My cap and rotor went out after 5000 miles. Brand new too. I bought a Delteq.
