Backfire from intake?
Backfire from intake? This has happened to me on about 4 occasions, where I'm going down the street in the city, and I give it gas to downshift, and there is a loud backfire from what seems to be the intake. It doesn't cause any problems with running. . .just scares me. 
I have a new distributor, my intake is stock, with a cutout on the stock box for better airflow, and a K&N filter. My only other mods are gutted cat, and flowmaster exhaust.
Has this happened to anyone else, and is it serious?

sounds like its an extreme lean condition?change ur fuel filter,put some injector cleaner in ur tank do some simple **** like that see if it helps...
I'm going to try that this weekend. I would hate for my LT1 to blow, like that LS1 did on the dyno.

Rapid Repeated Backfire I am not sure that we are having the exact same problem but it seems to be very similar. My LT1 with K&N filter in-take has resently developed a rapid and repeated backfire problem every time I quickly put the throttle more than half-way down. My TA is a 95 with only 39,000 miles. I had the distributor, plugs and plug wire changes but the problem still exists. I have had two different shops perform computer diagnotics but nothing shows up on the computer. One of the shops was a local Pontiac dealer.
