I know i have been asking about a stall..and i just waAant to be sure ..what do u think about getting a 3600 stall or a cam...i have headrd mixed reviews about gettin a stall then i have heard mixed reviews about getting a Cam...what do u guys think.considering my mods as listed below.....

 

Get the stall you will see a huge differance in your car.

 

I agree, get the stall and you will notice the difference. It will help pick up the pace of your car and later on, you can change the cam for an even bigger gain.

 

I did a mild cam in my Caprice first then later a 2800 stall, the stall made a much bigger difference. Stall should be considered one of those items you need before you do a cam. A stall works well with the stock cam but a big cam does not work well with a stock stall.

 

TC first, cam second.

You will feel more of a difference with the TC, but not much beats a hard idling cam.

You'll also need a high stall TC anyway befor eyou do the came swap (depending on how radical the cam is).

 

I would do the stall but, if its for daily driving..... 3600 is to high! Remember, when you put a high stall (3600 stall) your car is going to have to rev like 3300rmps just to get it moving, instead of like, what is stock (1300-1500rmps?)

 

yea my car will be a daily driver and also i do not have an eletronic trannsmission...if that changes anything...

 

I'd save up the money to do them both at the same time that way you only have to tear it all a part once and you're done for a while. If that's not an option because you aren't patient enough then I would do the cam first but that's just me.

I'd say go with at least a 3000 stall. I am running a 2400 on my Vette with a Hot Cam. I wish I had went larger.

 

Agreed.. a 2800-3200 shoudl be fine on a daily driver.

 

2800-3200 is perfect for the LT1.

 

I went with a 3500 stall converter in my daily and I love it. I wouldnt go smaller but thats me. Id say figure out what your set up is going to be and get the stall first and then the cam. You should pick your stall speed from your cam selection.

 

would it be best to just save and get a stall custom made or is it pretty safe getting a used stall...like a used 3600 stall....because i saw this offer for fuddle racing for stalls i think they were 3somthing and in total 410 shipped...so what about that>>

 

My car pulls pretty good at idle with the 2800 stall, the key is to buy a quality converter not some cheap piece of crap. Before my Edge I had a 2600 Level 10 9.5" it drove a lot worse than the 2800 Edge and got a lot hotter, it was just poorly put together and they did stupid things to get the stall which caused the heat and drivability problems. A gearhead passenger actually mistook the Edge for stock, that is till I punched the throttle. A high stall does not have to drive bad at all, that is one of those OLD rules that no longer apply.

 

When you do the stall make sure get a tranny cooler!

 

well dont worry im gettin a trannt cooler!!! if i end up gettin a stallwhich would be ewasier to put in myslef the stall or cam>>>???

 

I think putting in a stall is easier. You will need a buddy to help with the tranny, but its not too bad. When I did a cam swap a machanic friend of mine helped me through it. I don't think I could of done it by myself.

It depends on the brand you go with. You can get a TCI or Midwest for $400-500 or a PI or Yank for $800-900. Remember, you get what you pay for.

 

would i really see a difference goin a yank for example...casu im on a budget build for sure....woud it really be worth it to save or am i gonna be ok with a tci stall..
