Default calculating rear wheel horsepower?

Is there a way or like a formula to figure out rear wheel horsepower? Like if i was to buy a engine from Golen that says it makes 400 bhp horsepower how much can i expect to the wheels? Thanks I am confused what bhp means, is that the same way a factory rates the horsepower on a car?

Default *.

BHP stands for 'brake horsepower'. They say this because the engines are dynoed on a water / friction-brake dynamometer.

Typically, there's a 14~20% rotational and frictional power loss thru the drivetrain. So, theoretically, a 400BHP motor might see 320 to 344hp at the rear wheels.

Though, this is strictly an estimation for n/a motors at a 'regular' horsepower levels. There is no exact calculation, as power loss is not always a predictable, linear calculation. Too many variables...

Golen builds some great bottom ends, but their top end stuff is to be desired IMHO. I would suggest getting a short block from Golen, but get your top end (heads, cam, intake) from Advanced Induction or Lloyd Elliot.
