Default xe224/230 which springs

comp recommends the 986. will this spring fit on stock heads. i want to install a spring that will handle this cam in the future, for now im only doin 1.6RRs.

ive heard
*the combination motor sports ex-612 suck
*the crane 10308 comes with cheap seats that look like a flat washer, and can cause spring walking. also its been seen that the washers crack
*the comps 986 and 987 require machining the heads.

which springs are direct replacements and will work with the crane spring compressor?

i got that cam and ...well look in my sig and youll see i have the 918's (behives) and i think they are doing very well for me id reccomend them

and those were just drop in. no need to do any other machineing or anything? is there a kit that comes with those springs, and everything else.

yea no machining, get new retainers with them though, the springs were like 170 and retainers were like 50 ...but yea drop em in and have fun with those valve locks!!!!

are they differcult to put in? im using the crane valve spring compressor. will this work.

ehh well i used a basic spring compresser tool from autozone but im sure it'll work for ya, nah it just takes time,after the first few u'll get the hang of it

Just installed the 918 beehives with titianum retainers. Very easy install with the crane valve spring compressor. The hardest part is getting the fitting in the spark plug hole. 6 were easy and 2 were a pita.

All in all it wasn't that bad at all. I'm running the same cam. They reved it on the dyno to 6500 with no problem.
