Default Oil dipstick/headers problem.

I've just bought a 93 TA with a whole bunch of mods which I'll tell you about later. The problem I'm having at the minute though is with the oil dipstick. The car has Arizona Speed and Marine headers and my mechanic called to say that he's having a real hard time with clearance for the dipstick tube. He reckons that the headers are badly designed and don't leave room for anything (he had to remove the starter motor to fit one of the new spark plugs!).

My question is if anyone has had similar problems and whats the solution? Summit Racing list a Milidon Stainless steel dipstick (part # MIL-22005) and Lokar also list one (ED5001). Will they solve the problem in that will they be long enough as they will be running pretty close to the headers so will get pretty hot.

The car's with my mechanic, as I said, so I'm only going on what he's telling me as I haven't had the chance to go and see for myself. Thanks guys.

Lokar worked with my headers, it gets very hot, don't try to check your oil after you have run the engine.

Ditto with the Lokar, but as he mentioned, it gets VERY hot, as the handle is pretty much right next to the exhaust primaries. Worse comes to worse, you can pick up a new stocker and bend it slightly if need be. I ended up trashing my old one and buying a new GM one, bending it slightly to fit. No problems, but then again I was installing Jet Hot long tubes.

And as for your mechanic, removing the starter motor is commonplace when doing a header swap. He just doesn't know it apparently. And no headers leave room for anything!
