So you broke the tube off in the block? Did any of the dipstick break off into the pan?

Make sure you don't have any metal floating around in there and you can just cap it off until you get a new tube/stick. My buddy got rid of his tube and just sealed it up.

You can go to a junkyard to find one or I doubt the dealership would charge so much that it will break the bank.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOO....did you break the dipstick itself or the tube???

You ask for help and when someone tries to offer it to you but needs more information that you clearly aren't giving you just TTT right past me. Very nice....apparently I'm not "anyone".

Have fun figuring it out....while I may not know it all, I've owned an Fbody for 8 years and do all of my own work.

Have a great day....and yup, I'm in a crappy mood.

You're not out of line, Ghost.. I don't know whether he didn't see the post at all but it is an abuse of "TTT".

So there's a tip of the dipstick poking out of the tube? Is there any way you can take pliers to it?

we tried to but i think the only way to get it out is removing the whole oil pan....do u think it would be smart to just leave it partially in till i can get an entire new one??

now my car is shaking when i take off...do u think it coulod be realated from the dipstick where there is too much oil spilling out and it doesnt have enough oil???? or do u think its the spark plug wires touching the headers..i burned #5 and # 8....but im not sure...it feels like a shaing when i start to acclerate...once im cruising on the freeway it was ok...but just the accrealation....anyone have any ideas..its my daily driver and i need to fix her...

You will lose oil without the dipstick/dipstick tube in the oil pan, especially with it being that short. I would not drive it until it is fixed properly.

And yes, the studdering is from the plug wires. It's never good to run around with two burned wires.

well i fixed up the two wires that were burned with eletrical tape......i have heard that they can still spark even with the tape around them....but regardless i but some 8.5 MSD Wires today and hopefully that will stop the shaking.....so thats what u think it was from the wires....and its not being driven since i felt the shaking....shes sitting in my driveway

just get violent and pull whats left of the dipstick tube out of the block.....buy a new one from the dealer and put it in. and re-route your plug wires so they dont burn again...might invest in some type of heat protection for those plugs wires.

what headers are they btw?

alright, you shouldn't have any problems like i had w/ my pacesetter shorties (very first versions)...i had to "re-route" the dipstick tube to clear the headers......and if u have burnt plug wires, then the stumbling problem is definately related to that.

I had a friend who had a similar problem with his Mitsubishi 300gt... now, i know that the engine setup is a bit different... but get this, after we replaced the oil pan gasket and had it all bolted up, the damn dipstick would not come out. I suppose it could be wedged in there between the oil pan and something else. That might just be your best bet, im not sure how easily your oil pan comes out as well.. the only domestic car i own is an 81 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am... so... good luck!

any word man?

im not sure how those tubes are held in...i thought they just slipped in and were supposed to be snug, but they maybe a flange on the back end holding it into the block/oilpan.
