Default a little help on my car please.

*background*
i swapped my 94 A4 formula for a 97 M6 SS (tranny/engine)
alright.. i drove it for a few days, was fine, then my ECU gave up. so i decided to take the complete wiring harness from the 97, and the dash and all. i got everything together, and it was doing great. then it crapped out. its not throwing any codes at all. but it just didnt run right. well i changed my opti to the old opti. and it ran great ... for about 20 mins. then it crapped out... i took the opti appart and there was lots of carbon buildup and it was just gone. i did the same with 2 other optis and still... the same re-ucarence. runs strong *** hell for a while.. then craps out .

here is my theory, there is a short somewhere and is frying the optis. anybody have any other ideas?.. the engine only has 49K miles, is in great condition.. and all wiring/sensors are swapped.

other problem i have is my windows not rolling down. and my headlights wont go down, well i figured out the headlight prob. was just not having the relay considering the new wiring is from a camaro.

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Why did you do a complete motor and tranny swap? Did you completely swap them? Or did you mix and match?

If you swap a 97 into a 94 don't you have to use the harness and ecu?? Isn't the 97 OBDII were tyhe 94 Is OBDI? Also 95 and up opti's are diff from the 92-94's Not sure it there interchangable with out swapping the front cover. Right??

you are correct. you need the harness and the computer from the 97 then you need to use the opti from the 97. i don't think it was possible that the 94 opti on the 97 motor was installed correctly the could be the reason it crapped out. also do you have the vent tubes hooked up?

no mix and matching. i took EVERYTHING out of the 97. engine, tranny, ecu, harness, dash, sensors, mounts, even the damn seats... the interior and engine back is from the 97.

its possible that the opti on the 97 was bad to begin with , then we swapped the one from the 94. i didnt know the difference.

ps. the donor car is a 1997 camaro SS. that rolled over and ended up in our junkyard.

a 94 opti will not it on a 95-97 motor. They are not the same at all. 94 is spline drive and 95+ is driven off the cam dowl pin
