Thanks for the info guys. Rick I am not ready to buy any yet, but I wanted to find out what shops to contact when I am ready to order. I guess I will just have to deal with the lead time when I get to order them.

Like I said if you find them in stock get them. We, along with a few others that sent heads to Lloyd, had to wait from Oct 2004 to march 2005 for ours. AFR makes them in batches and when they are gone they are gone till they decide to make a new batch they do NOT have a dedicated casting ethier. They use standard Castings and have them modified to LT Specs. Not to mention they were only 199CC when we got them even though we ordered the 210 port.

Oh well they are here awaiting to go on the new 6.6 bullet as we speak

hey Ellis I have heard your story and told them (AFR) Because my heads will come these days (after 13 weeks wait) Any way here they said about your subject: All of our heads are CNC ported by machines, so there is no way that the proting would have been affected. Those are rumors at best. The facts are , the entire SBC line was down for just over a month and we have a gigantic backlog of orders that we are working through. It was never a delay due to poor quality. All of our heads are checked multiple times by different poeple to ensure that the product is of the highest quality I'm worried about this because after 13 weeks wait, I don't want to have a trouble on my heads..

You have swayed me Ellis I had intended on buying my stroker kit as soon as I finished my garage at the end of the month. Considering everything I have heard, I think I am going to order the AFR 210s at the end of the month. That way, hopefully I can get them by Christmas worse case and then send them for porting.

It was not a quailty Issue per say as much as they changed all the Specs and we did not get what we ordered. Not wanting another huge wait we had the ones we finally got Ported to what we needed

he didnt send them back to AFR. he sent them out to be ported by hand at which point they opened them up to the desired CC. i remember you posted that a ways back Ellis and that was the first time i had heard Lloyd was very good and reasonable with BARE AFRs. i think its the route i will eventually go. BARE AFRs sent off to Lloyd

That is exactly what I plan on doing with mine. Either Lloyd or Advanced Induction will do mine. Hope to get them ordered when I get paid at the end of the month.

These would be my AFR heads...and yes they took forever to get, and a day

We checked them twice and found them to be 199cc's period :... We also found that the supposed 58 cc's chambers were actually almost 60cc. Had them ported and new (better) valve job done. Now after porting, they are a cross section of 2.417 (which is perfect for 7k rpm max hp on a 401), instead of 1.9 (which won't feed any rpm except a 350), 5500 max hp level on my combo. They also measure 221cc intake port now and 59cc combustion chamber after minor shaving.

Thanks Lloyd

There it is! JimBob and his 6.6 LT1!

BTW do your self a favor and get at least the 199 port. Lloyd will thank you. Saves him taking that two pounds of aluminum out

Lloyd does great work. I had to wait ~8 days for my AFR's! Chuck at HPE had some bare 210's on the shelf and hooked me up with the cheapest price anyone could veer get. This was 1.5 years ago. Lloyd ported them for me and ended up with ~214cc runners. Good flow numbers as well...
