Default LT4 knock module info please.

Is the LT4 knock module really that important of an upgrade? My LT1 is loud. . .and I'm about to install headers. . .I was wondering if this is something that I should see about getting. Or is it a waste of money?

What does it actually do, besides eliminating misses caused by loud exhaust?

Before I put my lt4 knock module in the car sorta had a surging feeling to it. This comes from the sensors picking up false vibration and pulling timing out (I have true duals with bullets, very loud) After I installed the KM it ran much smoother, no surging feeling at all. If you know what yer doing you can desensitize the knock sensors with tuning software, I'm fairly new to the tuning software so I just bought the KM as a quick fix. It takes 5 minutes to install it.

I guess the KM may help. I did it just like most people have in the beginning. I'm a fan of tuning versus the module now. I just wonder if the LT4 KM is just like the ported descreened maf mod that most people regret. Good luck.

I dont know about the LT4 knock module, but i assure you that headers will definetly make your car louder, so if that module smooths the sounds, then it will be better for you.

It smoothed my car out tremendously after the true duals were installed. Mine was running pretty bad. If I hadn't just put plugs and wires on it I would have thought it was exactly that. It smoothed out with the LT4 KM, then I put the stock one back in just to see what it would do and sure enough it ran rough as a cob again. It does nothing for some and for others it helps. As far as thinking it makes more power on a bone stock motor, don't waste yer money.

It's VERY cheep insurence to prevent false knock even if you dont have an upgraded valve train.

Thanks for all of your imput. I've noticed surging during accelaration in my LT1 but even worst in my V-6 Camaro. I wonder what I could do to fix the V-6. I've noticed a big loss in power. . .might be the plugs and wires that got wet from the rains.
