If an ORY takes the place of a cat, is it even legal?

technically.....no but it really all depends on your state laws. here in nc if it is 96 and newer (OBDII) they have to pass emmissions. 95 and back doesnt , tennessee and ohio and south carolina dont even have inspections

No, Thats why it's called the Off Road Y-pipe... and it's against the Federal law no matter what state your in to remove or tamper with a working cat/emissions device. Shops can be fined in access of 25K if caught doing such work. Thats why most don't and if they do you wont have a reciept that says that they removed your cat and replaced it with a straight pipe.

PACESETTER lontubes coated
3" ORY
and kept the EDELBROCK CATBACK
removed all emissions and added 1.6 bowtie rockers and lt4 springs.

Ive been pretty pleased with this set up that I put together last year. It's Jet Hot long tubes, dual 3 inch cutouts, 4 inch Mufflex, and a Spintech muffler with dual 3 inch outlets. Sounds pretty deep.

So does anyone here have a video or soundclip of a TSP rumbler catback on an LT1? I've searched through LS1sounds.com and they don't have any LT1's with the rumbler catback (Don't have many LS1's with TSP rumbler either) I'm curious as to what it sounds like as I'm very interested in purchasing it..

Honestly, think of it as an SLP Loudmouth system, but only a little quieter and a little more refined sounding throughout the rpm range. Because that's exactly what the Rumbler sounds like (it's basically the same exact thing as a "Dynomouth" BTW).

i've got hooker on my 94 lt1 and i really like the sound its a little quiet at idle though wish it had a little more there but open her up and it really screams i've gotten a lot of compliments with it. It does pop once in a while especially when the exhaust is cold in between gears but its nothing thats annoying or anything

but we could argue what catback sounds better for years oppinions are like ******** everyones got one and as long as your happy with what ya got

I have SLP shorties with stock Y and Borla Cat-back.. I want to get a long tube kooks or another one.. Did you feel a real difference after you get long tubes?? I mean any big difference shorties and long tubes ??

I didn't vote...I have yet to hear a cat-back that sounds bad on an LT1. Some flow better than others, but I think they all sound bichin'.

Greg, I have GMMG with Hooker shorties right now and no cats. It's not raspy at all. It does pop a little but but sounds mean as hell.

I would love to hear it sometime before I make the purchase. Are you going to be at Speed Inc. this Saturday for their dyno day?

Unfortunatly I'm not. I have to work. I will be at Road America on Sunday though to watch some racing. I'm also going to try and make it to Mayhem as well. If not, I'm sure we can meet up since you're not too far away. Let me tell you though, I think it's one of the greatest sounding systems for the F-Body next to true duals.
