Default Time for a new Stick

Im thinking of changing the cam in my forged 383 LT1. As of now I have a 230/236 .510/.520 that TEA had custom ground before it became a shelf cam. It has TEA stage 2 heads and to be honset I dont know if I will run into coil binding or a pistion to valve issue but I dont think Ill have a problem. I am wanting a N/A cam but would like a good 200 shot or so. Any suggestions?

well no off the shelf cam is gonna work very well for that setup. also you are going to have to compromise alot because a n2o cam isn't going to put down very impressive numbers/et's with a n/a setup. as you know the entire motor setup has to be geared towards a goal. the more particular and specific the goal (n/a, n2o, fi) the more effective the combination will work. with that said, i would call of crower cams, AI, HPE, brett bauer (sstrokerace), or even Lloyd Elliot to have them grind you a custom cam for the best setup. Your lift numbers should be upwards of .560 and usually n2o cams don't like a lot of overlap. Also the tighter the LSA the worse usually for n2o cams, i.e most n2o cams like 113+ LSA's where a max effort n/a cam would be anywhere from 108-112LSA. Good luck

well for example I have a custom 236/245 114lsa .569/.580 for my 383 with a 200-300 shot. Although I dont have numbers yet I think it will do quite well

Thats something I had in mind. Is that a shelf cam or is it a custom grind?

Im not aware of that being a shelf cam.. There are similar shelf cams but not with that lift and duration. I just thought it would be a decent NA cam and good nitrous cam so I chose it and ordered it up
