Default Cold air intake problem

my friend and i were wondering what the difference was between the ebay cai and the other cai because he was looking to buy one and i couldn't tell him the difference because those have a k&n filter and look the same. I also read here that all cai are basically the same thing. Please help us out with this problem.

When you buy K&N or Moroso, you're paying for the research they put into making their kits better than the ebay ones. The K&N FIPK, for example, comes with a dyno chart of a stock z28 proving something like a 15 rwhp gain. And I believe them, it made a HELLUVA difference on mine. I'd like to see ebay do that.

back when i was in school in my street performance class, one of my class mates took in his car; it was a 3rd ger Camaro with the 305? engine. he made a base run on the dyno, and then a second run with a K&N replacement filter. he gained 30 RWHP. i didnt take a look at the filter that it had before but maybe it was dirty and was loosing some power before and with the K&N well flows much better.

If Im thinking of the same ebay cai's, the ones on ebay have the filter inside the engine bay. This would most likely pull from the hot air in the engine bay instead of reaching underneath the car and getting cooler air.

My ebay one works fine and came with an extention to pull from in the front fender. I say go for it, I can't see how it could possibly be that much different.

PS, it's a shiny 3" pipe, not 2".

When your engine bay gets hot, it's a 3" heatsoaked pipe. I love my K&N.
