i think borla makes one that actually has plates in it that are removable so you can do it however you like.

If you're making big cubes you would probably be better off getting Borla's XR1. It's a straight through single chamber design and there's no rasp.

Yea, im not a fan of the borla sound either. The sound of a borla at higher rpms isnt among the best sounds to come out of an lt1, they have way more sound potential than that. I love the sound of my flowmaster a lot. Magnaflows sound great as well, deep without an echo, very different from a flowmaster but still nice.

Ive had my flowmaster on for close to 2 years now and it still looks like new. Although my car is in the garage for the winter well before the first snowfall and doesnt come back out till im confident all the salt and **** has washed away.

Keep a cat on the Borla and it sounds great. I ran one on my LT1 wide open, zero rasp.

Yea, I remember the watching the vid you have, it defiantly sounded a hell of a lot better than other borlas ive heard.

Is that because your lt1 was blown?

Or could it be because most of the other borla's ive heard were on cars that did not have a full exhaust? I remember the sound of my lt1 in the mid-high rpm range changed dramatically with the headers.

My car's a daily driver, and see's snow every winter down here, and I lived in Washington state where it rained almost daily.

Same here with the Flowmaster 80 Series aluminized steel. It isn't in very good shape anymore though.

While we're talking about Flowmaster, I still just can't seem to understand why the 3" Flowmaster AT cat-back (80 series) is sooooooooo quiet on my LT1? The car also has Mac mid-length headers + a Random Tech highflow cat as well. At idle, it IS as quiet as a stock muffler and barely sounds any louder than stock throughout the rev range. Don't get me wrong, the tone is actually nice and smooth, but I'm just puzzled why Flowmaster is so quiet on my car??? I've heard many Flowmasters that were much louder on other LT1's/LS1's.

I've recently asked this question on CamaroZ28.com, but most everyone recommended running an offroad pipe in place of the cat to wake it up some...I'm probably going to do that, but people also say the Flowmaster gets kinda raspy w/ an ORP...

What I do know is that my open cutout is a LOT louder at any rpm, LOL...I haven't capped the cutout since I opened it. Sounds VERY mean & tough.

well got of the phone with thunder racing, and they said with my stroker i am probly losing about 10-15hp with my flowmaster, then i called f-bodymotorsports, and they said they dont see any hp lose at all using flowmaster, so know i think i have had enough. this can probly go on for ever, i have decided to just try a areo chamber hooker.

Exactly. I've been on F-body forums every day and night since I bought my car back in March '00, and this is one of those arguements you'll never find a clear winner on, along with the "best oil", "best spark plugs n' wires", "best tires", etc.

Find what you want and go with it. You'll be happier in the long run.
