Default valve spring question

A buddy of mine has a 1994 iron head LT1 that he's rebuilding and was wondering if LS1 valvesprings would work on his motor rebuild. Anyone here happen to know if this is possible? Thanks

Beehive style springs are used on SBC heads, I have CC 918 on my LT4 heads. He'll have to get the required retainers and locks from comp because far as I know the valve stem diameters are different then the LS1.

So is it a special set of retainers and locks, or is it that he will need LT1 retainers and locks? Thanks again

Your friend might need to have the valve spring seats machined also. The LT1 iron heads have smaller diameter spring seats than the aluminum heads or older iron heads.

I know exactly who your friend is as he asked these questions on the two main Impala boards and frankly just doesn't like the answers he is getting. I will be able to try a stock LS1 spring in an iron LT1 head in the next few days, BUT he is going to a larger than stock cam so even IF they fit I highly doubt they will be suitable for the new cam.
I have explained the valve stem diameter, retainer and lock requirements and the differnces in intended install height and I had him understanding till one ignorant guy told him that the diameter and lock angle differences didn't matter. This is beginning to look like "you can lead a horse to water.........................."
