Frustrated, intermittent hard start

Ok, 94 A4. For a few weeks now, my card has intermittently cranked for an extended period of time before it actually turns over and runs. After driving it for a while, sometimes the car will shake at idle. It also idles at about 500rpm, was 700 before this issue came up.
Just did plugs and wires. Checked the fuel pressure, good. Ignition control module is good.
One possibility is, my intake elbow is torn. Just received my new 1LE elbow yesterday, but haven't installed it yet. Could that cause those symptoms?
If not, what would?

yes, a vaccuum leak could definitely cause that.

Thanks, I just got home and will be replacing the elbow as soon as my car cools down. I'll post an update.

I's not a vacuum leak. It's a leak post MAF which will make the car run lean. Good chance thats the problem.

Well, replaced the elbow and it has started right up 5 times, but that has been itermittent, so we'll see.
The idle smoothed out, and raised up about 50-75 rpms. It seems to accelerate a lot smoother, and be running a bit better.
Hopefully, everything's cool now
