headers installation I am thinking about installing headers on my 96 m6 camaro. I was wondering how hard it was to actually install them, estimated time. I would like to buy just an off road y-pipe for the car and cat back, but i am finding it hard to find any places for stock manifolds. any help is apreciated.
if you are going to do it, get long tube headers! dont waste your time with anything else. instaltion is not too hard. you might have to jack up one side of the motor to get them in place but it is worth it. i think it took me around 4 hours to do the whole install but i dont know how experinced you are, ive put in around 6 sets before i did mine. if you do long tubes, off road y, and a good cat back, you would pick up some serious power.

i am pretty experianced. I fix helpicopters right now for the army. With cars i have done a lot of engine swaps to rear ends. But maybe 3 or so just headers in stall. I usualy change them when the moter is out. I have never done one on such a small access area. thank for the info

I'm doing the same thing.. let me know how it goes for you... I know we might need to lift up the engine on it... but.. I'm wondering what other stuff has to get disconnected from the engine prior to doing so..
Definitely go long tubes! Also crank it with open headers just for ***** and giggles. My mom thought the car fell off the stands it was so loud! Not a whole lot of stuff had to be removed. I think i took off the alternator, a couple plugs, starter and loosened the motor mounts so you can jack the engine. Small tip: unbolt the hood struts and prop the hood with a wrench or something. Gives a lot more room to get to the bolts.
