Default LE2 w/ stock bottom end

Is it safe? especially on a nitrous whored 127,000 mile motor? Just wondering what else people bought with that package. And also, does the package come with any valvetrain pieces to go along with the cam such as rockers, springs, retainers, locks, etc????

Thanks in advance!

the le2 comes with new springs, retainers, locks, valves, and new cam. no rockers though. and i dont see why it wouldnt be safe, but i dont really know that much about anything lol so i'd take some second opinions. and with the le2 package your going to need a bigger stall, bigger injectors, bigger throttle body, headers, gears..... i think thats it

How's the oil pressure? Good, go for it, bad, at least refresh the bearings.

I'm having the same thing done as we speak...LE2 with stock bottom end (about 82Kmi). Forging bottom end next spring though. Good luck, I've heard nothing but praise for Lloyd Elliott!

I've been running a set of Lloyd heads ( full port, big valves, from before he started all his LE packages) and an XE224/230 for 3 years on the stock bottom end....of course I only have 75K miles on the car but like was said if your oil pressure is good then go for it. Also, when you have the heads off you can inspect the cylinders. I've done two head swaps and the cross hatch looked good each time.

What's not holding up so well are the cam bearings. Lots of wear there, and I think its giving up bearing material too, lots of stuff on the drain plug magnet at oil change intervals.

FWIW, a buddy of mine has LE2 heads and a GM847 cam on his 130k mile stock shortblock. He put down 380whp untuned not going over 6000, and tuned by Jeff @ CAM he put down 411whp, still not going over 6000 because of valvtrain issues.

cool, thanks guys..

Oil pressure is good, i was just worried about spending all the money on heads/cam, and end up just blowing the motor, and possibly just screwing up what i bought.

bigger injectors/TB a must??? converter i am already waiting on, as well as some LTs

Should be alright, as long as the motor is still oiling well and you're not revving it to the moon.

I'd agree with Chris, injectors are an asbolute must. Never skimp on fuel delivery
