Default trouble with fipk

i have a k&n fipk and i'm having a problem it seems like every week i have to re tighten the filter because it comes loose so what can i do to fix this from happening every week. i also wanted to know if it was posible to install a cai without putting the filter on under the car, but to just drop it in from the top of the car because my friend has a lowered car and hates to lift it up.

If you look inside where the filter goes down. I took a dremel with a cutter, i beleive it was a right angle. I just opened up the hole so i can just put the filter down there in one peice. I got sick of doing everything from underneath too. So yea just tell him to do that.

I just wrench that little clamp as tight as I can get it with a little cocket and 1/4 inch ratchet. Normally stays on for a couple of months. Then I find the hose clamp laying on the bottom of the pan and I get to do it again. I wonder if you could use rtv to help it stay?

It was a bitch to install (did it in grass, without jacking up the car, in 95 degree weather). Cut the metal like the other guy said.

I haven't had any problems keeping it on. Be creative. Get out some glue or duct tape and go to work. You could even try to rig up some kind of harness so it wouldn't fall. Might be a fun project.

That's weird... I've never had a problem with mine.

Default filter

I just used profanity and tightened it from the bottom very tight with a ratchet....never came off.

My filter fell off and I did one WOT run withit off. I think I sucked up a rock which led to my rebuild 3k miles later. I suggest you fix it soon!

I used rubbing alcohol to clean both rubber surfaces and I haven't had an issue. I think that when you re-oil the filter it makes it slip off from the oil overrun.

Im guessing you have a descreed MAF or aftermarket one?? It would be quite hard for a rock to get passed the screen..

your looking at 'bout 15hp gain with loudmouth. Little more with the fipk. Did you say a GT??? He shouldn't loose with stock parts, let alone a few mods. I am not hatin on the stang world, my best friend has a 99 Cobra, my LT1 was faster 'till he put a procharger, longtubes, and exhaust. Now he catches up in 3rd gear with stock tires. If your friend looses to a GT he should sell it and get an import!!! just kidding

I went to lowes and got a plumbing adapter. I side the fipk into it, and clamp the filter at the bottom, never a problem since (3years ago). I can get mine off in about 2 minutes and can reinstall it just as fast.
