Default Fastest BONE STOCK LT1...

I posted this on CamaroZ28.com a couple of years ago when I used to hang out there. I'm bored so I figured I see what kind of response I get here.

Who has/had the fastest BONE STOCK LT1 F-body? It can be a M6 OR A4. But I'm talking bone stone stock, no DR's, no K&N, no muffler, nothing.

My '96 Z28 A4 2.73 "stripper" car went a best of 13.62 @ 102 w/ 2.0 60. This was on 245/50 Potenza's and stock down the factory paper filter. The car had 80k miles at the time.

So post up, and lets see if we can find who'd has/had the fastest BONE STOCK LT1

Dont believe it then, but they can
His gears are the stock 3.23 upgrade and although he didn't run a 13, he would have if he wasnt at a shitty elevation with shitty weather
Not to mention all of these other people who have seen stock 13s
Its hard to believe until you see it. Not every car is the same. He actually ran faster than my other friends 93 a4 with CAI, chip, 4.10s, and cat-back. He ran a 14.5

i can believe some high 13's but i have trouble on 2.73 cars. the weird part is, most of the times posted have been from auto 2.73 cars and some 3.23's. i'd think the slick shifting pros could get the 6 spd 3.42 geared cars into the 13.7's, but damn on the 2.73 autos

I think a big part of why you don't see more 13's out of LT1 cars is most people don't know much about them.

That time I posted was the "best". It was mid-fall and conditions were 110% good. I backed that ET up with a string of 13.7's @ 101 hotlapping the car. But I ran my fair share of 13.9-14.1's.

The BIGGEST thing with LT1's is keeping them cool. It didn't take me long to figure this out. They start getting heat soaked and slow down considerably. EX- I ran the same car at Super Chevy earlier in the year on a day with outside temps around the high 90's, a track temp of like 120+, humidity up around 80%, and stitting in the staging lanes for about an hour cutting my car on and off to move up every few seconds. Go the tree and my temp. gauge was reading 230ish. That combined with the conditions, I couln't get out of the 14.5's that day. Same car, nothing done to it.

Once I learned to keep the car cool and had some better conditions, I got a much better ET. I would never run the car unless it had cooled down well below 160. I tried to plan it so that I was reading about 160 when at the tree. After I learned the car I was always in the mid-high 13's, depending on conditions.

Every time I'm at the track and I see some young kid sitting in a LT1 car in the staging lanes with the car running and the a/c and radio going, I think back to all of the threads online I've seen entitled, "Why is my LT1 so slow?"

LOL, that was a good one. I keep seeing these LT1 cars around that are burning oil, knocking, misfiring, etc. and that makes me realize why the LS1 guys are so hard on us. Maybe if some of them would actually maintain their cars the LS1 guys would be talking about wins by a couple car lengths instead of a couple bus lengths.

Absolutely almost every LT1 I see around me is in bad shape. People assume the LT1 is slow cause idiots can't take care of them. Shees no wonder LSbum guys think they are so much better. To all Lt1 guys change all your sensors, change your plugs, wire, rotor, coil,I mean everything and watch just how nice your LT1 runs.

thats just stupid. The person who claimed an altitude corrected 13.3, thats just silly. However, the A4 2:73s tend to run very hard. People are so simple minded they just assume its slow because it has highway gears and an auto. Its actually a great combo for the old LT1...I have a dozen timeslips and video to prove my car went 13.80s...and I could prove its 100% stock too...Im sure everyone else could do the same.

Are Firehawk's considered bone stock LT1 cars? Cause both my friends and mine went 13.4 and 13.5 at 105. Boy that seems like a lifetime ago.
