Default consequences of hitting rev limiter

I have a '94 z28, my friennd drove it ffrom work and on the way he played aroud with a 95-96 impala, with spinners. Well my friend dropped the car from OD to D and hit the rev limiter several times. well nothings broken that we can tell or anything, but anything in particular that i should look into.

You'd know if something were wrong...
Your engine would let you know

I've done worse while bouncing my limiter (sprayed on it)
and engine didn't even flinch
I got lucky on that one, but I doubt anything is wrong with yours.

If you're timing chain was going south, or even rod bolts, it would have
let go at the high RPMS.
Just look at it as a test that it passed

You could have bent pushrods, but it's not that easy to tell unless you take it apart. And it probably wouldn't be anything major if it still runs good.

In order to hit your rev limiter in drive at 65 mph you would have to have like 8.23:1 gears. Are you sure he didn't go from 3rd to 2nd.

I wouldn't even worry considering it is naturally aspirated and the factory rev limiter actually helps avoid internal damage. I on the other hand felt it a waste of money to invest in a $90.00 window switch and hit it with a 200 shot. Well I guess we learn from our mistakes right!

I fouled a set of plugs out with the factory rev limiter since it cuts fuel and not spark. It was on a set of TR6's though, which I have heard foul easy.

I did 60 sumptin yesterday and I got 3.23's in 2nd gear and I didnt hit my rev limiter, but it makes perfect sense to have dropped it from 3rd to 2nd but defiently not into OD. I have done 110 or so in OD without hitting a rev limiter

Yep, you're right 3rd to 2nd, by bad. I've only had this car for 2months and I figured hitting rev limiter=bad for engine. Like I mentioned before everything seems fine. Although the car has overheated twice since then, dunno if it might be related. Btw, I just found no t-stat installed. New one went in, hope that helps. Thanks everyone.

Back when I first got my car, I was trying to get a 04 GTO to race. We were doing about 45 I think and I THOUGHT that the A4 would only let me downshit to 2nd, as that is the last number on my shifter. Wouldn't ya know it? It popped down into 1st and god damn that was the worse jerk I have ever felt in my life. I'm just glad nobody was behind me. I'm sure the guy in the GTO was laughing his *** off. But anyway, I didn't have any problems. Test passed. LOL

Im lmao right now, thanks god for rev limiters or your engine would have gone BOOM! sorta like on Days of Thunder. My dad accidently dropped my car into 2nd while doing 70ish and damn that ABS system reacted and the freaken rear fishtailed for a second there.
